A call to arms! An abomination is terrorizing villages throughout the kingdom, leaving behind a path of death and destruction. The king has summoned all able-bodied adventurers to return to the capital and organize a plan to rid the kingdom of this menace.

In Monsters & Minions, players compete not only to construct the greatest fantasy characters, but also to gather information about the looming threat and prepare for a final showdown against the beast. The more prepared the adventurers are for the battle, the better they'll fare.

Gather details from the Monster's Minions for the fight ahead. Where is the Monster's lair? What obstacles will there be along the way? How will it strike next? Players earn additional Reputation Stars by driving back the evil Monster and its Minions. The player with the most impressive reputation wins the game and becomes heir to the kingdom!

Great Addition

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I'd say this is almost an essential addition to the game. The puzzle of building your character is fun in the base game, but the Monsters & Minions expansion now adds a purpose for your character. Instead of taking cards or money to improve your character, you can go on adventures to battle minions. Defeating a minion may give you some intel on the monster, and will also give some rewards in the form of a new resource, xp. What's great about the monster and minions is that they provide suggestions for how you might want to build your character. Depending on how your character is built, they may get additional combat dice when doing battle. This expands the decision space a little. For example, do you take the white die because it fills an important slot on your character sheet, or do you take the red die because it will boost your combat power for the upcoming minions and/or monster? The minion combat also introduces a bit of push your luck. Do you spend a bit more time building up to fight a monster to get more combat dice, or do you just go for it, understanding that your odds aren't as good as they could be. It requires a little more time to set up, but doesn't increase the rules complexity too much. Each turn is more interesting because there are more options to consider. Battling the minions is fun because you get to chuck a bunch of dice to attack (there is frequent excited yells when a minionis narrowly defeated or narrowly avoids being defeated). And the addition of the monster and minions also adds to the thematic story being told. Overall it's a very good addition and if you like Roll Player you should probably get this too. One other thing, when we play we like to tally up all our scores before fighting the monster. Sometimes the scores are close enough that the outcome of the monster battle determines the winner. Ending the game this way ups the stakes and excitement!

Much-needed depth added

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

You get new characters: Wrathborn, Construct, Bastja, Gnome, and Dark Elf. Also, you get a ton of Monster Cards, Minion cards, Boost Dice, and Combat Dice for the new mechanics added. The market now has scrolls for sale. I would consider this a must-own expansion. I love the base game, but it sometimes felt aimless and always felt flat at the end of play. This expansion gives the game a narrative feel. - a purpose to all of the rolling.

Must Buy Expansion

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Must buy this expansion for any fan of Roll Player. Not only does it introduce great new monster cards for fighting during the market phase, but it also introduces a 5th player option. You also get new market cards and a cool wooden first player marker. There is nothing to hate in this expansion and everything to love in it. If you need more Roll Player in your life, start by getting this.

The Final Piece

This was the last set I needed for my Roll Player collection. I have the big box and now looking forward to putting all these together into one giant set and playing into this new expansion

Random, but with Purpose

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Do you like Roll Player but wish you actually got to *do* something with your characters? Well, M&M might be what you’re looking for! Adds monsters to fight, along with more items and other goodies. The only knock on it is that it does make the game a little more random.

Monsters and Minions is a MUST

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

YOU must buy these together, or you're missing out. Skip the other expansion, these will provide years of entertainment. YEARS. If you played D&D growing up, and want to relive that with scoring your character AND battling baddies during your build, buy this. GREAT SOLO game. If you're tired of playing Solitaire, I have the flow and rules down after 2 play through games. Highly recommended, lives up to the hype!

Necessary Expansion

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I’m typicaly not an expansion guy but MnM truly enhances the gameplay of Roll Player. You get to fight creatures with dice. The dice manipulation is not as strong as Roll Player base game, but your stats affect how well you fight. Fun twist and deeper than you think.
