28mm Scale

Classic Fantasy is Wargames Atlantic's range of 28mm hard plastic sets covering the Classic Fantasy tropes of literature and role playing games. Sets in this range should appeal to both RPG players and tabletop wargamers.

Infesting the land in the places the sun rarely touches: mountain caves, the dankest forests, lonely ruins from the folk that came before, this race of giant spiders is an ever-present threat to the free peoples.

Solitary spiders will lie in wait for weary travelers while larger clutters will be so bold to attack villages en masse. Mountain goblins have even been known to ally with the beasts to ride their enemies down. The local militias stand wary and sometimes the High Queen herself organizes hunts to winnow their putrid numbers.

This hard plastic box set allows you to field up to 12 Giant Spiders, 12 smaller spiders and with sci-fi part options for every giant spider in the box. Bases are not included.

Plastic components.

Creepy Crawlers

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Nice kit, versatile. Beware, it’s a harder figure to make given the multiple (similar) legs, establishing what goes where, etc. Take your time.

Great Kit

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

These are pretty excellent. Comes with 6 identical sprues; each sprue has 2 small and 2 large giant spiders. The small spiders have two one-piece sculpts, and the large are composed of a body, thorax, and eight individual legs. Very posable, with sci-fi options (which I don't use, but appreciate anyway) and extra legs. I'd call them a medium-level kit; they can be a little fiddly and require support during drying, unless you're doing CA + accelerant. For comparison, next to 28mm minis the small ones are the size of a small/medium dog, and the large are the size of a pony or small horse.

Good miniatures for the price

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

One of the selling points on these for me was the ability to customize poses on the twelve larger spiders. This is done primarily with selection and positioning of the legs and provides some decent variability. They are not difficult to assemble once you get the hang of them and understand the range of leg selection. I docked one star for two reasons. First, instructions would have been helpful to help identify the parts included more quickly. And second, the square shaped connecting piece on the middle legs protrudes from the bottom of the model a bit. Nobody is too likely to notice once it is based but you may decide to try and smooth it out. Overall, I felt like it was a good value for the price and was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of the spiders’ victims wrapped in webs. I look forward to spicing up some bases and terrain with those.
