Some Good Stuff Here, But Don't Expect Too Much
This is the second case I've purchased, and overall, I am pleased. I love 11 of the 12 rares in the collection, and a lot of the commons and uncommons can be used again and again. These two factors convinced me to buy the whole case. That said, I can't give the case 5 stars, or even 4 stars, for a few reasons: First, CRANIUM RAT SWARM and VARGOUILLE. These are just plain terrible miniatures -- ugly and useless. These monsters should not be "common" -- in 40 years of playing D&D, I have never once used or even encountered either creature. And including a "variant" of the vargouille with different color hair?!? C'mon. Just fill up the case with kobolds, goblins, orcs, whatever! Everyone loves multiples of those monsters. Second, ANIMATED DOOR and PENTADRONE. These are bizarre choices as well. I know some folks like modrons, but I am not one of them. And now I have four pentadrones and three animated doors. Not sure what to do with them, as they are worth almost nothing in the after-market. I guess there are many people feel as I do about these duds. Third, I have to agree with some of the other reviews -- even though I appreciate having lots of animals, the animals in this set are not the greatest (except for the elephant, which is fantastic!!). The sculpt of the lion in particular is very weak. It's hard to believe that this is the same company that makes the gorgeous animals found in the Nolzur's and Pathfinder Deep Cuts lines. All that said, I'm still glad I bought the case. To get the 12 rares in the after-market, I would have spent more than half the cost of the case. At that rate, I'll take the whole case and live with a few lemons.

ugh
Wow, i am not sure what is going on with minis but dang. Some of these are made nicely but wow. Like others said before, two color animals. For this price i really would love the whole thing to be better. I have to start understanding that the Pathfinder Pog sets are far superior to these.

The fist 2 reviews sum it up.
I order a brick(8) just hoping to get at minimum 1 Beholder, I did get 1 Beholder out of the group But the paint job really is horrible. One box looked that somebody open before and taped again, tape on the sides but in the bottom was double taped. ??? I had 5 figures that I need to repair due that what ever machine put the glue on the base, missed the feet and they are lose" looked like they are walking in high heels. A Hot Blower, some patience to remove the old glue and glue them again in the right place, Really my expectation was too high expecting no defects, but out of 32, 5 need repair. Like somebody else said before... Better buy the ones you need.

Might be better to buy what you need
This set has a few nice miniatures in it, Xanthar and Jarlaxle were very well made. Unfortunatly there were a few poorly made ones as well including the cranium rats and the beasts, with the lion being especially poorly made. Overall not unhappy with my purchase as I was able to get most of the figures from the set but having multiples of named characters like Mirt or Ziraj isn't great. Probably best to skip the chance and just purchase the miniatures that you need, it'll probably save a bit of money as well.

Disappointed in this set.
I'm a long time collector and I am super disappointed in the downward trajectory of D&D minis, especially this set. While there are some OK minis here most of these are largely, forgettable or WTF? kind of quality. I have almost exclusively switched to buying Pathfinder minis now, I know they're made by the same company but Pathfinder must be paying Wizkids so much more for production. I recommend skipping buying an entire case like I did and instead buy the few cool ones from this set as individuals, it will save you a lot money. Some general criticisms about this set: 1. Atrocious paint jobs. The lion and crocodile minis are painted with two colors each, for example. Looks like my kid painted them, with her hands tied behind her back. 2. For some reason half the minis have their name written in white letters underneath, and the other half are plain black letters. No consistency. 3. Gimmicky doubles. There are two Pit Devils, two hags, two wererats, two warlocks, two spies, two cambion devils, two dragonborn, two citywatch, two nobles, two darklings and two vargoilles that are essentially the same mini except the weapon they hold or the coat they wear have been changed slightly. In other words: this set of 44 minis has 11 repeats that are called something different but are essentially the same exact mini as one you already have. These are the ones I would have bought as singles. 1. The Xanathar is cool. Except it looks almost exactly the same as the much cheaper Monster Menagarie 2 Beholder. The smirk is a bit different as is the base. But the coloring is exactly the same. Still if you like beholders this one is a must have. If you don't mind by the MM2 one. no one will know its not technically Xanathar. 2. Elephant, will be cool to give your PCs an elephant ride because why not? 3. Pit Fiend with mace, cool scary monster. 4. Shield Guardian, although it needs a new paint job. 5. Cambion Devil, whichever one. These are the ok ones that I *might* have bought as singles. 1. Darkling 2. City Guard 3. Ziraj 4. Spy 5. Warlock. Finally the rest are so bad I'm embarrassed to display them. 1. The CRANIUM RAT SWARM looks like a melted candy bar. 2. The VARGOUILLE looks like the stand had a mini and broke off. One of my players asked "where's the rest of it? did it break?" 3. The Hags are big, discolored hunks of plastic. 4. The manshoon looks like it has a book for hand. The hand melds directly into the book. Must be hard to wipe. 5. The dire wolf, lion and crocodile look like a Chinese knock of toys. You can get better looking animals from the toy section of any store in your area.
