A Flawed, But Welcome Set
The mini's in Volo & Mordenkainen's set are varied enough to provide a decent amount of possible encounters, but the real benefit is the concentration of Derro and Gnolls. With a case, you'll be set for multiple Underdark sessions or ambushes from roving parties of ravenous monstrosities. Sculpts haven't aged too well, and are sorely lacking in comparison to newer sets. Also, the resale and collector value of individual mini's is one of the lowest you'll see from Wizkids.

One of the Better WizKids sets
I think this is one of the best sets WizKids has done on many fronts. While still plagued by minis bent in weird ways out of the box there was a lot less of that in this set with a couple of exceptions. There are lots of cool unique monsters many we havent seen before in other sets. Many of the paint jobs on this set were so so, but there were also a few surprisingly good paint jobs. I think they did a better than usual job of picking out rarity levels in this set as well.
