Great for a specific type of DM

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

These 2-d minis are a really great option if you are on a budget but need a lot of varied minis. They are also great if, like me, and you don't host the session you run and so have to take your books/minis/maps on the road with you. They are of appropriate scale so they don't look freakishly huge next to regular miniatures unlike certain other pawns from a different competitor. Not to mention they have a front and rear graphic which is nice. One issue is that when fitting the minis into their bases, they sometimes fit too tightly and it feels as though you might crack or fracture them. So far it hasn't gotten to that point but it doesn't inspire too much confidence. Thankfully this is only the case with a few specific bases and minis (out of several packs of them) and if you buy multiple packs you might find that some minis fit better in other bases like I did. The only other minor issue is that the graphics look like they need some brightening up. The colors are a bit muddled especially from afar and I wish they would run the images through some filtering that might alleviate this. Still, the issue isn't egregious and every mini is easily identifiable enough. Overall a very agreeable product for DMs who don't want to invest the money, time, and space in standard miniatures but still want to have a good variety of monsters for their players to fight.

Good idea, not well executed.

Average rating of 2 out of 5 stars

The level of detail: good. The value for the money ( $10 on sale ): good. The quality of the product: fair. The acrylic plastic (or whatever it's made out of) is rigid, inflexible and not durable. The whole idea is to have a way to compactly store 2D minis, and this is a very good idea. However, when you try to put the things together, the tolerances are so tight that you have to push really hard and risk breakage every time. For something that's supposed to be taken apart and put together regularly, this is an eventual disaster. The first one I put together immediately developed a hairline fracture. Will not buy more of these.
