Wonderful selection. Great sculpts.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Was excited to see this on sale. Of the current selections for the Classic Monsters this is the one I wanted the most. The best chimera offered so far. The beholder is extremely unique. Like this version of the cockatrice as it far outshines the other option by Wizkids. Excellent set.

All of the minis are great! The Beholder is amazing, so is the Chimera. The Couatl was a pleasant surprise. A+!

Good Monsters

The miniatures themselves were good. Except the chimera that was missing its front leg. Overall, A fine collection of classic monsters in the first edition style.

This Miniature Set Gets the Grade

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Just wow! A great idea to offer basic monsters to new collectors in a one stop shop, while offering value to old collectors with new sculpts and designs that pop, this is a home run. Even better, the box design is perfect, on theme and worth collecting for its own sake. And as anyone with a last name starting with an A has known since grade school, the alphabet rewards you with going first, and some of the great monsters of D&D are at the top of the class lineup. Beholder and Bulette? Who truly has enough in their collection, and certainly not as jazzy as these two! Chimaera? We hardly knew you before this dynamic sculpt! Each one of these is great. I think that of all of the themed sets of monsters that have been released over the past few years, this is the greatest as far as quality, theme, and design. The price point might be a little high, but not outside of where pricing has gone in the last three years across the board for tabletop items, and I still felt I was getting my money’s worth. I’d say that this one is a must own for the experienced or novice collector alike, and will look great on your tabletop, while the box will look great on your shelf. I rarely keep the packaging except for necessary storage, but not this time. I’m facing it out on the book shelf for sure.

Classic and accurate

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This set is a great start for the classic AD&D (1979) Monster Manual critters. The figures look exactly like the depictions from that early publication. The Beholder is quite large and even goofier looking than the original illustration. I never pictured it in International Safety Orange, but it sort of works for the miniature. I think the Bullette should have been scaled for a 75mm base instead of 50mm, but it's not bad either. Interestingly, the case itself is unexpectedly high quality too. I recommend keeping it.

Classic Monsters Quality Ministures

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This collection has some real classics in it no pun intended! It’s worth it for the beholder alone! My favorite is the chimaera as it is a stunning miniature and the best we’ve seen yet! If your a DM that uses miniatures or jsut a collector this set is a great addition!

It's aimed squarely at me, who was 11 when the first Monster Manual came out. So much of that book established what those monsters are supposed to look like, and it's terrific to have good minis of that version.
