A great family game for all ages.
Wonderful for children and adults. My boys started playing the various Carcassonne games around four years old by just putting together a puzzle without keeping score. Carcassone is fun for kids while encouraging them to count, add and work out puzzles.

A great game for both starters and advanced players
Carcassonne is a game that can be easily learned. I found that mixing competitive players with "just playing for fun" players can create conflict in this game, as -even though tiles are random- strategy plays a big role when it comes to scoring features (or crashing your opponents). The rules are quite easy, and if you are playing with children or casual gamers you may find easier to play without farms (i.e. playing meeples on green lands). There are several expansions to this game, though the base set never gets old.

Note: this is the new version of the tiles, which has a different design than the original version. I have some old expansions: the drawings and colors may not be the same... but the tiles work well together and it's not much of an issue. Don't worry about it! :)

A Lot of Game
This edition was my first experience with the game, Carcassonne. The game is very fun and easy to learn. It is very easy to teach and I have played it a lot with individuals who would not consider themselves gamers. They all enjoyed it and enjoyed picking up on the subtle strategy that exists in such a simple to learn game. Another bonus with this edition is that it includes two smaller expansions. Though small, they add a lot of variety to the game. While there are many expansions for this game, my family is still having a lot of fun with what comes in just this box!

Modern-day Classic
Carcassonne is one of my all-time favorite games. This is a simple tile-laying game that has almost infinite variability, and quite a bit of depth for its design. On your turn, you pull a tile from the supply, and add a meeple to that tile to potentially score on building cities, roads, cloisters, or farms. Each type will score in different ways.
This is not only a great game to introduce people to the board gaming hobby, but provides the depth that long-time board game enthusiasts can appreciate. This new design sharpens the look of the game, but it is unfortunate that the color scheme does not match the existing expansions. Newcomers to the game will have to wait for the expansions to be re-released with the new design.

A timeless game with ton of expansions for those who want it all.
I love Carcassonne. It feels like one of those games where when playing the first time your like, "ok, this is it?" and by the time the game is over you want to play it again. This isn't a flash game with crazy components and over the top gameplay, but it is a very solid game and a must for anyone's game collection shelf.

A classic with ...depth?
I enjoy this game. My wife does too. But I don't quite get the thousands of expansions. I am starting to see more strategy as I continue to play, but I feel like there must be something else here that I'm not getting. Why would this have sold so many copies, and inspired so many spin offs and variants if it wasn't great?

I find myself looking at it as more of a puzzle than a game, most of the time. That might mean that I'm approaching it from the wrong angle. I purchased it originally to try and introduce the worker-placement mechanic to my wife. It worked, I think, but wasn't a necessary step in her learning. I just don't find us itching to have this hit the table very often. I was hoping to play it enough that our plays would get quick and fight-y. This seems to have the potential to be a quick, strategic duel. I may just not have played it enough to appreciate it yet.

Classic
Carcassonne is a classic board game and one that is great for introducing people to the world of gaming beyond Monopoly. The gameplay is deceptively simply and strategy can be changed to fit your group (it can be passive and it can be quite aggressive). While there is a lot of extra space in the box, the components are top notch and there is quite a bit of game inside.

One of the best gateways
Carcassonne is one of the best gateways.
It is a great family game. Easy to learn but hard to master the farmers.
There are a lot of expansions avaiable.
WIth just the base set I prefer this game with only 2 players. But with more it still fun.

One of the best games for casual games
This is the game I bring out when I have guests that does not have one game everyone knows. It's simple, fast and fun. Perfect for friendly family gaming.

One of the best games for casual games
This is what I bring out when the group doesn't have one game everyone knows. It's simple and fun with quite a bit of repeat play value. It is however not a game I play repeatedly in the same group.

Great family game.
There isn't all that much going on in this game, which makes it a family game. It is kind of like building a big puzzle one piece at a time, but instead of the puzzle pieces having varying shapes they have varying points that they will provide the placer based on where they are placed.
