Animal Species, Color, or Dodelido After All?
In this frantic card game, you have to think fast! On your turn, place the top card of your deck face up on one of the three discard piles. Then, call out the characteristic that appears most frequently on the top cards of the three piles: animal, color, nothing . . . or "Dodelido." It sounds easier than it actually is, especially since the slow turtle and the hungry crocodile add variety. The player who makes the fewest mistakes wins!
Dodelido can be played in pairs or groups of up to six players, ages eight and up, in sessions of about 15 minutes. This game of visual agility challenges you to be the first to run out of cards by correctly calling out a characteristic of the cards in the discard piles.
Both kids and adults will have a great time playing Dodelido. To begin, an equal number of cards are dealt to all players, who keep them face down in their hands. Then, in turn, players play the top card of their deck onto the corresponding discard pile (there are three piles, and on each turn, one card is played onto each pile clockwise).
Finally, the active player must announce the matching animal or color characteristic among the cards in the three piles. If there is no majority, they must say "Dodelido"; if the turtle appears, they must say "Oh!"; and if the crocodile appears, all players must cover it with their hand. If a player makes a mistake, they take all the cards from the discard piles into their hand, and a new round begins.
