The MK. II "Scarab" tripod is the most fearful embodiment of Martian technology, at the time of the first wave of the Invasion. This behemoth is slower and clumsier than other tripods, but it is armed with a powerful heat-ray and multiple black smoke launchers. The Scarab's thick armored shell, together with its energy shields, makes it nearly-indestructible by the primitive Earthlings' weapons.
