You don’t really need the extra meeples for the game, but at least you’ll have some backup animal meeples for all of the animals including the expansion animals. Plus you could potentially add them to another game for some extra fun there, like maybe ark nova. Or if you have one of those nice board game shelves they would make a great decoration.
