Using the power of the Chalice, you and your fellow Hunters have entered the Chalice Dungeon, whee you must confront its terrifying bosses together. But in the end, only one of you will gather enough blood to escape the nightmare...

Fan or the video game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I like this game because it's small and like the video game it proccedes I like a lot of the mechanics that are in the game like saving your blood tokens and if you die you lose them all just like in the video game. Only downside i have is that their isn't an official solo rule set and as of now it's reconnemed to be played with at least 3 to 5 players.

An overall solid experience that stays mostly faithful to the source material.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Bloodborne is a semi cooperative game for 3-5 players, and generally lasts for about 45 minutes to an hour once you understand the mechanics. The overall theme of the game is that the players are fighting their way through the chalice dungeons in order to get to the final boss. Along the way players will improve their hand by getting new cards, collect victory points (called Blood Echoes) by dealing damage, and even attempt to sabotage their fellow hunters. Once the final boss is defeated, the player with the highest total Blood Echoes wins. The Good: Great price point, quick turns, engaging combat, not too mean backstabbing mechanics, and mostly faithful to the source material. The Bad: Nothing too serious though, in my opinion, the relatively low variety of cards and the slow rate at which you acquire them negatively impacts the experience. The Ugly: Where is Ludwig's Holy Blade? Where is the Chikage? There are too many iconic weapons and items from Bloodborne that are absent from the base game as well as the upcoming expansion. Considering how long it has taken for CMON to release an expansion, this seems like a problem that may not get fixed. Overall: Despite Bloodborne: The Card Game's issues, I have enjoyed my time with it so far. Most people I have taught the game to have asked to play it again, which alone makes it worth the price.

Co-op Fun

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

This was my first board game purchase. I mainly bought it because Bloodborne video game is one of my favorites. I enjoy it with my family and friends, especially the co-op aspect when discussing which cards to play as a group. The play is fairly quick and some cards' special effects spice things up. My main disappointment is that it requires 3-5 players, while 2 is my ideal count. Using some house rules, I play 2 players games but in such setup the games feels too quiet and relaxed. At the end I am happy with my purchase and see myself buying more games in the future, exploring this new hobby (I already ordered Warhammer Quest The Adventure Game and plan to buy Dark Souls The Card Game when it is released).
