Holy Cow!
Holy Cow is this game good. You need to have patience learning it. Watch some How To Play videos. Go through the instruction manual (yes it's a tad long). Give yourself 2 hours to learn it and practice play. But once you grasp it...you really want to play it. It's just that good (reason why it's top 100 games on BGK). The component quality is 'sensitive' one of my boards came warped. They can easily scratch or peel. You have to treat it gently like cinderella. But it's just that good collecting cow cards, moving your meeple across the west, getting to Kansas City, getting paid for delivery chow I mean cow. And just trying to be the best in the west. It's also too many point variables to score, so you might think you will win...until all points get tallied and point count is 'that close'. Be patient, learn it, enjoy it....master it.

Missing content
Hey, 2nd edition? Woo that looks great! But hey, where is my meeple? Where is the train? Why did I get 2 red cowboy hats instead? I cannot put one hat over on another hat! That’s weird

Revamped version of a Classic
This is for the Eggertspiele edition of Great Western Trail in comparison to the older version release by Stronghold games. Thematically It's mostly the same with regards to the setting and the characters, with the biggest difference is the removal of the American natives from an antagonistic role in one path. The meeples have been upgraded from the standard cowboy shaped meeple to those of meeples wearing ludicrously huge cowboy hats. I am struggling to think of any major play differences with this edition with regards to gameflow. The addition of a solo mode is very welcome. and was a major deciding factor in me purchasing this edition.

Love this game
This is a really interesting worker placement game with some deck-building involved. This game has a lot going on and takes a bit to learn/teach, but relatively easy to pick up if that makes sense. It is complicated, yet elegant. You have action tiles that you add to the board as you play, which changes the board and adds variety to each game played. I have many plays of this game already and expect many more.

What a ride!
There is so much depth to this game, yet the rules aren’t that difficult to grasp. I’ve really been enjoying the solo mode and the varying levels of difficulty.

Great Quality Game
This version GWT is a remake of the original games. Has great components, and high quality art work. Recommend to any who’s into engine building.

Second edition is a must
New art and meeple hats really take this great game to the next level. Small tweaks to the game play make this already perfect game even perfecter.

A fantastic (non-)deckbuilder
Great Western Trail incorporates light deck-building into a fun western-themed game about moving and selling cows at market. There are a ton of things to do in each game, and learning how to optimize your turns/runs through the trail is the meat of having fun in this game.
