A fiery dimension of lava and ash, the burning Caverns of Cynder are home to many dark and ancient evils, imprisoned within! Rivers of molten rock flow and pool into lakes of fire, forging fiendish Lava Men to assault any who dare cross over into their world. Caverns of Cynder introduces a brand new OtherWorld for Heroes to explore! This includes a full set of 18 all-new Map Tiles depicting the fiery Caverns of Cynder , with dangerous new Lava Spaces that can burn the Heroes, and crumbling crust that can fall away under your feet! These Map Tiles also have an all new set of unique Mine rooms on the reverse, bringing more variety and new Encounters to discover throughout the Mines. All of the cards needed for this searing lava world are included, such as Cynder Encounters, Artifacts, Map Cards, OtherWorld Threats, and more, as well as a host of new cards for adventuring in the Mines! 6 New Missions will challenge your Heroes, as they hunker down to Defend the Bridge against hordes of attacking creatures, or race to seal Cracks in Reality that have opened up, threatening to tear the world apart!

Cynder is AMAZING, but incomplete.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I really like the option of having the otherworld of Cynder for any Brimstone / Forbidden Fortress adventure. This place is Brutal. Imagine traveling the insides of a magma chamber, but it is also a hellscape filled with monsters! That said of all the expansions I have see from Flying Frog this is the one that really feels incomplete. This only comes with 3 lava men. If you want to make the most of having access to Cynder I would HIGHLY recommend you also pick up a Magma Giant XL enemy pack, the Hellfire Succubi Mission Pack, and the Magma Fiends Enemy Pack as well. This will make Cynder come alive. Good Luck, and try not to burn to death on your next adventure!

Good expansion for price.

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Really like this otherworldly but, suggest that you also should have Hellfire succubi and, maybe one or two other enemy packs for this expansion. Would rated it 5 star if it would have had one or two more enemy types.

Excellent First Expansion with Increased Difficulty Curve

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Shadows of Brimstone is a game focused around the idea of breaches in the barrier between worlds opening up and allowing monsters to come through or your heroes to cross over, with each base game including one Other World for you to explore (Swamps of Jargono and the Targa Plateau). While an excellent concept and great fun to play, having only three places to be can wind up being repetitive after multiple playthroughs. That is where Otherworld Expansions come in. The first of what I hope to be many more, the Caverns of Cynder expansion is dedicated to introducing another Otherworld for the heroes to explore, along with more artifacts, gear, monsters, encounters, missions, and terrain hazards to enjoy. Upon opening it was obvious that Flying Frog's love of Cards and Tokens would be readily served here. Several sheets of pop-out tokens were included, which consisted of map tiles, new Lava tiles, and endless amounts of poker chip tiles. My only real complaint would honestly be the poker chip tiles, which were "home rule" additions given on the off-chance that your group would want to use them for...something. While I appreciate the addition of home rule tokens, and they are of high quality, they give a LOT of tokens for something you may honestly never use. The monsters themselves (The Lava Men) are fun and challenging fights, giving a new Large-sized creature for the heroes to contend with. They add to the feeling that this Otherworld is designed to be used for higher-level or experienced players, such as a move that does more damage to people with higher corruption points or mutations. The Lava Tiles are new ground hazards that can be employed to make the maps more immersive, and to break up the habit of every map just being a straight line run to the next door, as we now need to be more aware of our surroundings before moving. The Gear cards are fun as always, with the Artifact cards adding new melee items that are always welcome additions. Over all, it is a very high quality product, and with the Miniature Market pricing it is a great value. If you are fine with adding a new pile of tokens and cards and maps to what is already a pretty accessory-bloated game, then you can't go wrong with picking this up.

First Expansion To A Great Game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

So this is the first expansion for Shadows of Brimstone and FFG hit it out of the park. There is a ton of content cards, tiles, tokens, scenarios for you to add to either of your core sets. Like the previous reviewer states the expansion does good on content but lacks in the hero/enemy department. You'll get three new minis for the lava men but thats it. I would have liked to have seen if not a new hero something that expands the play style of any or all of the previous classes. FFG has a ton of expansions in the pipeline and this is a great first step.

Great Expansion

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I love this game and the gameplay of this expansion adds to an already great experience. I would have liked more plastic figures for this expansion. The lavamen are very cool, but how about another hero or some other enemy? There is a lot of card in this game, so there are plenty of tokens and map pieces. I love the poker chips for experience--very cool!
