Puzzly goodness

This game is great for those who love tile drafting and placing. It’s got a lot of depth and strategy if you want to maximize your score.

give it a try if you like tile placement

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

My wife and I are really enjoying this after several plays. Similar to Cascadia in the selection and placement process but we're able to play it much faster which I attribute to an interesting decision space with maybe one or two fewer scoring criteria. Room for both games in our collection for sure.

Mid-light weight tile placement

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

A very nice little tile placement game. Stacking mechanic adds a cool twist on it that differentiates it from some others. Enjoyed very much; not too heavy, but enough interest to have replay value.

I've enjoyed playing the game solo, the solo varient is fun and light, easy game to pick up and get into. Looking forward to playing with others, seems like a nice family game!

The Go-to Group Game

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Akropolis is a competitive city-builder, best with 3 players, good with two, but solo mode (excellent though it is) has limited replayability as you'll find yourself following pretty much the same strategy one game to the next. You can teach the rules in 5 minutes, setup time is quick, great box storage, and good player interaction (completing for multiplier tiles) without cutting throats. You build your city both outward and upward, and playing time is less than an hour. For groups of casual gamers and non-gamers, one of the best games out there.

Quick game, Easy to Learn and FUN!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This game is a relatively new release and already we've bought it three times - once for ourselves and twice as gifts - because everyone we play it with wants their own copy. It's quick and easy and super fun.

Fun for casual gamers (and more)

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This was fun! Played with 2 players, easy to learn but enough complexity to offer room for mastery as we play it again and again... lots of variables so every game will be different. My teenager enjoyed it, which was a gamble that paid off! Thank you!

Great light weight game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I bought this game on a whim, to be honest. I'm Greek and have many games themed in the ancient Mediterranean world, so the theme of this game was automatically an attention getter. I saw quickly that it has some similarities with Taluva in its tile laying, so was intrigued. Also, it was only about $30 which is fairly inexpensive for a board game. The game is easy to understand and plays very quickly. I've played it at least 5 or 6 times so far, and each game took around a half hour to play. Each round, each player picks and places a tile in their own city from the offer. Each tile is made up of a triangle of hexagons depicting differently colored districts and plazas or quarries. Each color of district has placement requirements that may disqualify them from scoring at the end of the game. Plazas have from 1 to 3 stars in them, which you total for each color, and multiply by the total number of correctly placed districts of the same color. Once you have placed a few tiles, you can start placing further tiles on top of your existing ones, creating hills in the landscape of your city. Districts on higher levels score more points, so building up is encouraged. Only hexagons showing at the end of the game count for scoring though, so be careful not to cover a high-value hex (particularly plazas). The production value is great. The tiles are made of good, thick card. Everything comes pre-punched, so all you need to do is read the rules (quite short, large font) to get started. The game is quick to set up and quick to pack up. TLDR - Easy to play, easy to set up, easy to pack up, good gameplay, very nice components, and a great price point.

Quick Puzzlely Tile-Layer

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Tile-laying games are pretty hit-and-miss with me. For example, I don't find Carcassonne to be that interesting of an experience. But the simple drafting and optimization puzzle of this game combined with the quick play-time was a hit for my group.
