Better game han expected

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Zombicide games take a lot more thought to win than I expected. I didn't understand that from reading the rules. It's a cooperative game where players are all on the same side trying to beat the game's rules. They're not very complicated. The game opponent pieces move towards and attack the player's pieces. The thing that makes it difficult to win is that all the players lose if a single hero is eliminated. That requires all the heroes to work together and avoid the game controlled characters as much as possible from being in the same zone. It only takes five hits to eliminate a hero. Unlike players who have to roll dice for hits, enemy hits are automatic. The game has a sense of impending doom after each turn. It has no time limit, but the continuous increase in the number of enemy figures each turn increases the difficulty of achieving game mission objectives. Players have to stay focused on those objectives while trying to manage the growing number of enemies. Eliminating enemies increases experience points that increase the number of spawning enemies at set thresholds. Players have to resource manage heroes eliminating threats to avoid any single hero triggering larger numbers of spawned enemies. Marvel Zombies adds more variety to the Zombicide franchise due to the variety of superhero powers altering gameplay. That's why Marvel Zombies gets the best ratings in the franchise. It still plays more like Zombicide than a Marvel game due to how the superhero powers are abstracted for the game. X-Men Resistance is a little closer to Zombicide because players don't need to manage Hunger as in the Avengers core box.

A great Zombicide for comic book fans!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I have all the other Zombicide series in some capacity and I think they nailed this one. I skipped the Kickstarter because the idea of Marvel zombies didn't hit with me but once I found out about the hero mode on this one I picked it up. The designers definitely paid attention to the classic X-Men abilities such as Colossus' fastball special, or the fact Wolverine can keep triggering extra dice roll attacks. My biggest concern was that the heroes would feel flat but the new power-up mechanic means you can keep using your special hero powers. I can't comment on the Zombie mode because I don't have that other core game and haven't played it.

Me and my family loved this

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

You can play as the zombies or the heroes. I have marvel zombies and marvel zombies xmen resistance with both boxes you have chooses. Zombicide 2 was my favorite in the prison and in the hospital I bought every expansion. I wish they had kept the system if you die you flip your cards and become a zombie version and more powerful. Other than that its really fun.

I love having a version of Marvel Zombies where you play the heroes, and it's great. The missions are solid and the mini figures are incredibly detailed. Highly recommend!

My New Favorite Zombicide

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I'm still waiting for my Kickstarter pledge for the Marvel Zombies core box and a few of the expansions but was excited to be able to pick up the X-Men Resistance box in the meantime! It's a great game, and definitely my favorite version of Zombicide that I've played. I love that it can be played with either 4 or 6 heroes, prefer the new abilities deck over the items deck, really appreciate that noise tokens and friendly fire no longer exist, and just love playing as a super hero who is powerful right off the bat! The zombie heroes spawn deck is also a fantastic mechanic and keeps things fresh. Would highly recommend to any fans of Marvel, Zombicide, or just cooperative board games in general.

Assemble ... the x-men

Great team choice for both the heros and zombie sides. Not many rule changes other than elevation.
