Dominion On Steroids
With each of the previous expansions of Dominion Donald X introduced a new mechanic or theme. Duration cards in Seaside. Trash for benefit in Dark Ages. Potions as a treasure in Alchemy. And so on. In this version there are about 4 new mechanics. Event cards that you buy the privilege of doing something but it doesn't go in your deck. Cards that after you play them can upgrade to a stronger card. Cards that go on a mat until you call them later. Tokens that allow you to gain or lose cards/actions/coins under certain circumstances. It took the strategy of Dominion to a whole new level. The only bad thing to say about it is that the cards are noticeably more flexible that previous versions. So when you shuffle it can be noticeable that the top card is from this expansion. Also, the card backs in my copy were not consistently colored, but RGG did replace those that were too light at no charge.

Master set!!
My first impression is this is definitely a 'masters set' - in that this is for vets and people who love the game. The mechanics are a bit more tricky, and the cards a lot more wordy - so beware of a bit of AP out there.

Nice addition but poor quality
No less than you would expect from Rio Grande as far as game play. However the quality of the cards is horrible. You can see the difference in the thickness of the cards versus older cards. These cards are so thin and flimsy you cannot shuffle them like a normal shuffle without bending them. What the heck happened Rio Grande?

Great Expansion to a game I could play forever.
Dominion Adventures adds a lot of new ideas to the game that still stay true to the feel of Dominion. Reserve cards reward good strategic timing, and the new Durations (especially the Duration - Attacks) were long-awaited and do not disappoint.

Adds a Lot
Adventures really lives up to it's name. It brings back the orange duration cards but also adds in a Tavern and a couple of sets of cards that will upgrade as you play. For both the Page and the Peasant there are associated cards that do not go in the purchase zone. After you finish a turn you may upgrade the Page/Peasant to specific character who may then upgrade and it goes even a couple levels higher. The idea that you have someone within your command/control who will grow over time is very cool.
