The world is big and your kingdom gigantic! In fact, it's no longer a kingdom really...it's an empire! Which makes you the emperor! This entitles you to a better chair, plus you can name a salad after yourself. But, it's not easy being emperor. The day starts early, when you light the sacred flame; then it's hours of committee meetings, trying to establish exactly why the sacred flame keeps going out. Sometimes your armies take over a continent and you just have no idea where to put it. And there's the risk of assassination; you have a food taster, who tastes anything before you eat it, and a dagger tester, who gets stabbed by anything before it stabs you. You've taken to staying at home whenever it's the Ides of anything. Still, overall, it's a great job. You wouldn't trade it for the world - especially given how much of the world you already have.
This is the 10th addition to the game of Dominion. There are cards you can buy now and pay for later, piles with two different cards, and Landmarks which add new ways to score. VP tokens and Events return from previous sets.

Best expansion I own.
Has three main things it adds. Debt tokens, it's fine. Events, good way to give options. Landmarks, I always add them in as it's a non-intrusive way to bet more point. The cards are excellent as well

Probably the best expansion out there!
This is beyond a doubt in my top 3 favorite Dominion expansions, getting best only by its direct predecessor Adventures, and narrowly beating Prosperity, the expansion that many of the themes in Empires call back to. It continues much of the flavor of prosperity by introducing Debt, where you can buy cards and pay for them later. Also ever present is what's called by experienced players "alt-vp", ways to accumulate points other than by the usual Provinces. The ever popular VP tokens also make a return in several cards. Now even though this expansion is a blast, it definitely ratchets up the complexity. Extra Events and the new Landmarks add yet more cards to interact with each game and split piles have you learning 2 cards for the price of one. For me, this is what makes the game fun, but if you prefer the "good ol' days" where cards only had 10 words on them this may be a deterrent. It depends on your fetish, but even if you don't like newfangled rules you'll be surprised on how simply and elegantly this expansion introduces new concepts. (Warning: The "Basic Intro" isn't basic at all, for a slower introduction I recommend slowly integrating these cards into games with more familiar ones.) Overall, you need to purchase this if you're a fan of Dominion, and even if you aren't these cards just might convince you to be one.

New twists abound!
Continuing the trend of Dominion: Adventures, this latest expansion does even more to shake up the game. The introduction of debt into the game creates more interesting buy phases, and allows for players to get a variety of useful cards while deferring payment. Also, the Landmarks that this set introduces can radically alter one's play style for the course of the game, possibly causing you to play with very different priorities. All of this coupled with the return of VP tokens makes this a must have for the Dominion lover.
