You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes. . . dreams! You want a bigger kingdom, more pleasant, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion! In all directions lie fiefs, freeholds, and feodums. All are small bits of land, controlled by petty lords and verging on anarchy. You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner.
But wait! It must be something in the air; several other monarchs have had the exact same idea. You must race to get as much of the unclaimed land as possible, fending them off along the way. To do this you will hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill the coffers of your treasury. Your parents wouldn't be proud, but your grandparents, on your mother's side, would be delighted.
This a game of building a deck of cards. The deck contains your resources, victory points, and the things you can do. It starts out as a small sad collection of Estates and Coppers, but you hope that by the end of the game it will be brimming with Gold, Provinces, and the inhabitants and structures of you kingdom.
This the second edition of Dominion. Six cards were replaced and one added compared to the first edition. The base cards have art now, and the trash has a mat.

My favorite game, even better as a second edition!
This game is awesome! I've been playing it for roughly 6 years, and it's amazing! Every time I play it with someone who hasn't played it before, they want to buy it too! So much replayability in one box, but it's made much better with expansions! I have Prosperity, and just got Plunder, both add a lot of depth, variety and complexity to the game!

Build your own deck
When I first set it up the game seemed daunting, but I followed along with the instructions while setting up the play area and things went smoothly. Played once with a nephew and it took about 40mins which was great to keep us engaged. Other than Magic the Gathering I'd never played a deck building game. I lost 55-54. With the amount of cards and possibilities I can see this being a very replayable game especially when we get more people to play.

The Classic Game well worth the time to play
This is more a limited review as I have only played two games so far. The quality of the cards is top notch and the game play is high with lots of replayability. Card interactions is the key of course and there is a huge number of expansions available and lots of recommendations on-line if interested. The only downside was the rule book for me was a bit clumsy. If you find any difficulty, there are a number of high quality Youtube videos by well known game reviewers that should help even if the buyer is new to the hobby or gaming of this variety. It is definitely worth the time to play. Now...if we all did not have to work and had the time to play all of our games to understand the nuances of card interactions....

The ONE tabletop you should be sure to own
Dominion is absolutely one of the best table games currently on the market. Even the basic game provides enough fresh variations to keep you playing numerous times without losing interest. Once you add an expansion or two, the possibilities really explode. Different strategies come into play, and you may be surprised at which ends up being the most effective. That just adds to the fun! Great game.
