Unique 3X
Council of Shadows is a 3X (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, but no eXterminate) board game with some interesting aspects. The energy consumption mechanic is an interesting balancing act. Using more powerful programming cards allows you to act earlier in the round, and allows you to make more meaningful moves, but also makes it harder to level up your civilization, which is the primary goal of the game. The solo automa feels badly balanced, taking turns that ensure that it will outpace you from start to finish.
