Solid, but get a group

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I've been playing a lot of Marvel Champions as a solitaire game, and saw that this one is also playable by a single player. It's fine as solitaire, but if you're buying a game specifically for the solitaire experience, Champions offers a much more elaborate, varied, and challenging experience.

Really good game - fun for most ages

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Lots of fun and pretty easy to learn and teach. The expansions help create even more diversity in gameplay. I would say that the game is family friendly as well. My 4/5 star rating shouldn't be considered negative either. I just reserve the 5/5 for games that are a MUST play.

Excellent deck builder

This is an excellent deck builder with a fantastic theme. It really feels like you are equipping your team of heroes to fight the villains.

Fun and exciting deck-building game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I've only played one solo game for far (and lost), but I really enjoyed it. Ended up with some surprisingly cool card combinations that were really entertaining.

Basic can still be fun!

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

The game is really easy to learn and to teach. The only annoyance is remembering keywords. There are a bunch of villain, master villian, schemes (changes win and/or lose condition of the game) and heros to pick from for max replayability. It's nice, that it does competitive mode with scoring. The game length is pretty short. The box is big enough for sleeved cards and extra expansions. The theme could be a little bit tighter. The schemes do feel like they are themed properly. But once you start playing, it really doesnt feel like you are playing a team of superheroes.

Great Deckbuilding Game within the Marvel's franchise

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Legendary Marvel deck builder came out in 2012. Back then many Deckbuilding games came out. But this one was themed with the Marvel franchise. It stood out from the traditional Deckbuilding games by having Schemes. Which work similar to objectives and revealing a certain number of twist cards made bad things happen. Your goal ultimately is to work as a team and prevent the Main Villain from completing his scheme. The core box has a couple of each of the popular teams like xmen, avengers, shield and good starting villains like Red skull, Magneto, Dr doom and loki. The good: A solid Deckbuilding experience Cooperative Objective based scheme allows for different wining conditions A decent roster of heroes, henchmen, villains. Lots of expansions. The bad: The art is mediocre. As a comic fan, with many purchases of Marvel fan items, I believe they could do so much better. Seeing 1 version of a card in 3 different background colours to distinguish them apart other than cost is very unappealing. In other words plain and boring. Every game set up involves mixing what heroes you want to play, the villains you want to face, henchmen groups etc. So you got to shuffle all these in various decks. If you don't shuffle well, well you can get the same hero, villain repeating the line up. While set up is not as bad, the tear down is bad. For all the heroes, henchmen groups, etc, you will have to separate the cards into their respective group and then store away inbox. This takes the majority of time. Although the core box has many heroes, the synergy is having cards that work well with each other. E.g. xmen only or avengers only. But if you randomly choose random heroes, this works against you as none of their abilites can help other cards or players and it will make the game difficult vs picking all xmen makes it fun and not too challenging. I believe there was 8 schemes which provides some replability but not all are great and you 0ay just play 5 in rotation. The price is still expensive after 8 years roughly $50-55 off a retail of $60 Overall. There is still no better deck building Marvel game. Other than Marvel Championships but that's more of a card management since the deck is pre made so I won't compare. Lots of replability with expansions and a good cooperative game.
