Cross Clues Review

Work together to fill in the grid by giving single-word clues that represent the intersection of two code words.

1. Find where your coordinates cross: B3 is where B (Doctor) and 3 (Bear) intersect.

2. Give your teammate a clue: "Vet!"

3. Sit back and hope your teammates can work out your location on the grid: "B3!"

Consider your clues carefully and think as a team to fill in as much of the grid as you can! With thousands of combinations of code words, this party gamer guarantees endless fun!

Great Party Game or Filler

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

I wasn't exactly sure what to expect out of Cross Clues as it seemed as though it was just another Code Names inspired word game. While the function is very similar to other word games the cooperative nature of the game, and the grid being filled in to help you perhaps broaden your clues as there are only limited grid spaces left is an interesting twist. This works well at all player counts and surprisingly very well at 2. Think of it like Code Names: Duet, but with a timer, and a bit more stressful. I'd highly recommend this to folks who want to use it as a quick filler or as a weeknight relaxation with a significant other.

A great twist on word games

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

The concept is great, but this presentation of it could be improved. Each card has four words on it - that's awesome for replayability. However, the words on each card don't blend so well with each other in my experience. Another game that uses this idea of connecting two words with a bridge word is Medium. While I think Cross Clues is the superior game, I've found the words used in Medium lend themselves to inspiring bridge words much more easily. So I've started using the Medium cards in place of the Cross Clues cards. I also think the coordinate cards in Cross Clues should be made of a more solid material. Ultimately, Cross Clues is my favourite word game out there, but I need to use a variant to play it.

It's easy to set up, easy to teach, and with all the cards has unlimited replayability ! Seems like it could be very fun with a group. Very good game !
