Codenames: Duet XXL, the cooperative version of our popular word association game, brings an improvement over its smaller predecessor with more comfortable play.

Codenames Duet keeps the basic elements of Codenames - give one-word clues to try to get someone to identify your agents among those on the table - but now you're working together as a team to find all of your agents. (Why you don't already know who your agents are is a question that Congressional investigators will get on your back about later!)

More subtle than initially thought

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

The two player version of Codenames is a different game from the original Codenames title. The use of turn marker/chits ensures that each game can only be 9 turns or up to 11. Combined with a different display on each side of the code chart you must think how to gain multiple successes which are far more necessary than the original codenames. Also, the back page of the rules explains how the codes were designed so both players have the same assassin (black square with an x) but the other two are different so paying close attention to what the other player's provided clues versus the words down on the table is key during our playing. The cards are great and very large so if you have any vision problems, hand function limitations, or drop cards shuffling, we found this large XXL size worked for us better. Fantastic, quick game and the campaign mode, for want of a better word, is actually quite entertaining to try. For the price and the chance to play a quick game that requires thinking, this is an excellent title to pick up. Highest Recommendation.

Bigger cards are nicer

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

The bigger cards help a lot, plus it’s a good alternative for two players if you like the game.

Bigger table presence

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I have the normal version of this game and play it with my partner all the time. She loves it but always complains about the size of the cards. Got this as a surprise gift and it went over amazing! Same exact game just larger tiles. Takes up more space on the table but really brings a new experience :)
