Dark Souls: The Board Game - Gaping Dragon Expansion

It's a good expansion. Yes, the model is fairly large and the wings, front arms, and tail need to be attached. However, the hot water trick works great and it was relatively easy to put together; if you don't know what that is, YouTube it, there's even a video from SteamForged Games, the manufacturer. As a mega boss, it's a challenging encounter and adds a little bit more to the game.

Full disclosure, I have not played DS the board game. I only bought this for the mini. And it was money well spent! This is a formidable, multi-piece kit of a very eye catching draconic abomination. Huge, sturdy, worth every penny either for tabletop or a set piece.

This set is actually pretty good. For the miniature itself, the pieces don't fit in the slots. You'll need to shave them down a bit for them to fit in the slots snugly. Everything else is great quality. I didn't get this product for the game as I don't own the base game.

The product itself, from a manufacturing srandpoint, is inherently flawed, and this is an issue with this particular model. The joints must be fit into sockets and squeeze into place with a bit of pressure, not requiring any glue to stay in place. However, the seams from casting the model are thick and sloppy, and several joint seams must be shaved down or else it is impossible to fit together. For that reason, it's not ready to play as it should be and I'm docking points simply to reflect Steam Forged Games' poor manufacturing. Otherwise, the model is fine, and other portions of the kit work great.

While the actual model was very very cool, there were a good amount of quality control errors with assembly that were a bit of a nuisance to deal with. The wings would not fit into the slots for it, So I had to cut the wings and slots to make them fit. Other than that it was very nicely detailed and very very fun to paint, I hope to get more of my favorite bosses even though Im not interested in the actual board game.
