War of the Ring 2E: Deluxe Game Mat

The simple reality is the miniatures are too large for the game board. This expanded game mat allows you to fit your armies in most spaces without needing to transfer them to the army box. If you play this game regularly, I highly recommend it.

This is a great mat. It's 50% larger than the regular board so every region on the map is large enough to hold many more minis than the regular board does, meaning you don't have to substitute your minis with the army tile. The colors are vivid, and lines are sharp, there is no confusion as to what you're looking at on the map. The mat is quite thin but sturdy; however, it is not stitched on the edges. It does come with a hard tube for carrying your mat, so that is a great bonus. Excellent must buy item for any hardcore fan of the game.

If you're ever going to upgrade something for your game, let it be this. This mat is beautiful, sturdy and is larger than the regular board. That means you can fit more minis onto the map without having to use the replacement army tiles. The edges of the mat aren't stitched unfortunately and the mat is pretty thin, but it makes sense since it is a large mat (50% larger than the regular board) so it needs to be able to roll up easily to fit into its tube. That's right, you get a pretty tube as well.

If you own ARES War of the Ring, the deluxe mat is a must have! (if you have the table for it) The larger play area gives you a better feel for the expanse of Middle Earth and the massive campaigns waged while Frodo makes his way to Mount Doom.

I bought this product on sale for around $40 instead of the usual $60 range. The map comes rolled in map case that is beautifully styled in Middle-Easth motifs. The map itself is beautiful. It is not 50% bigger than the original map, but I'd say about 20% bigger. The size does make a big difference in the usually crowded spaces. The map does make the problem of giggling pieces when the normal chipboard map is jostled. I wish all my game maps were like this. Rolling dice on it is a dream. No seams of a folded board to deal with is such a treat. If I had seen this product in person, I'd have purchased it long ago! Don't wait for a sale. Get it now!

It's big, it rolls up well in a fancy tube, and you need it if you have the space for it.

Good size with plenty of room for game pieces. Excellent graphics. Thinner than I thought it would be. I’m concerned that the mat will separate from the neoprene.
