Army Painter: Zombicide - Black Plague Paint Set

Great starter set

Great deal on paints. With the change over to the Fanatics line, I love that I can still get many of my most used colors in some of these older paint kits.

Note: If I could I'd give this a 4.5 out of 5 While this is the 'Black Plague Paint Set' that's not obvious from the box. The Box indicates it is 'Zombicide Zombie Paint Set' and you have to look a bit to find the reference to the Black Plague. This package comes with Eight Paints (Wolf Grey, Plague Skin, Necromancer Cloak, Abomination Gore Leather Brown, Elf Green, Claymore Blade and Bright Gold) and Two Washes (Plague Shader and Deep Shader). Let's start with the Stuff I Like: 1. This is one of several 'Zombicide' paint sets and of the several I've ordered it appears, thus far, there are no duplicates fo the 'Zombie Core Paint Set' as an example has different paints from the 'Zombie Survivor Paint Set which has different paints from the 'Black Plague Paint Set'. So that's a definite positive. 2. The paint are in the standard size 0.6 fl oz/ 18ml dropper containers which is much better than the pots. I also like how Army Painter color codes the lids so you know what is a standard paint (white cap), what is a metallic paint (black cap), and what is a shader or wash (red cap). Makes it much easier to find what you are looking for quickly. 3. The paint is 'Army Painter Warpaints' which I've used in the past and I have no issues with the quality or color of the paints. 4. Comes with a detail mini brush. Always good to get another brush! 5. The package is good! It has prefabricated placement for each of the paints and the brush so easier to store the paints in the original box until I need them again. The things I don't like: 1. Naming convention. Some brands out there list their 'fun names' along with the 'conventional names' so you can cross reference and see if as an example 'wolf grey' might be the same shade as something you already have. That way if I run out of wolf grey I know I have the identical shade of paint already and won't need to buy another one. I already spend enough on my hobby so the 'standard naming convention' names on each bottle as well as the 'fun names' would be appreciated. To be fair, the bottles of paint DO say what the 'Army Painter Warpaint equivalent is - but it does not provide the 'conventional name' of the paint to compaire between brands. While this is a quibble it would be nice if all brands gave both the 'fun name' and the 'conventional name' so we didn't have to guess as to whether or not we had the paints.

It is a cheap and nice way to start painting specific miniatures with a pre-made paint bundle. And Army Painter paints has high quality and comfortable bottles.

Fantastic value for the price. So happy to be subscribed to the mailing list to take adventure of these deals. Gives me the opportunity to try out different material. These paints were fantastic!

Good for starting giving colors to Zombicide minis

Good start and colors for painting miniatures.

Paints are good but this 1 of 4 boxes you will need to paint Zombicide if you follow the Army Painter video. On the upside, Army painter has very good video paint guides on their YouTube channel. However, it is let down as soon as you start watching the video and you listen that you need paint X from paint set X. That sucks! If you call this the Zombicide - Black Plague Paint Set then all that I should need should be in this box and do not force me to purchase a different set. Worst, when you open the box it does not tell you that paints will be missing you need to watch the video. I managed to paint my Black Plague miniatures with other paints I have on hand but I should have had everything I needed in the box.
