"England expects that every man will do his duty..."

- Admiral Nelson addressing his men at Trafalgar

In Sails of Glory you sail and fight with massive ships-of-the-line or swift frigates, recreating the epic naval battles of the "Age of Sail."

The armies and fleets of the French Emperor Napoleon I battle across the seas, as well as on the fields of Europe. The fate of a continent is determined by the epic engagements of the British Royal Navy against the French and their allies, culminating in dramatic naval clashes such as the Battle of the Nile and Trafalgar.

This starter set is a complete game for 2-4 players and the entry point to the Sails of Glory game system. fast playing and easy-to-learn, Sails of Glory uses pre-painted and assembled ship miniatures and an innovative movement mechanic, inspired by the acclaimed system used in our Wings of Glory game.

Four ships, two French and two British, are included. Each ship is complete with a specific ship card, maneuver deck and ship log. Also included are a full color rulebook, counters, and accessories. You will be able to start playing out of the box in only minutes!

Captures Napoleonic Naval Warfare Nicely!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Sails of Glory is easy to learn, but you need to build your understanding by progressing from Basic to Standard to Advanced Rules. The system gets more detailed and involving as you master more detailed rules. Optional Rules add even more detail and challenge. You can do all this with the Starter Set. Full Rules Plus Optional Rules are probably best suited for ages 11 and up, but younger players can enjoy the Game at Basic and Standard levels. I played Avalon Hill's Wooden Ships and Iron Men as both Board and PC Games and Age of Sails on PC. Sails of Glory easily match these classics in realism, challenge and fun! The Miniature Ship Game Pieces are Nicely made and painted (but reportedly a bit fragile). Some might think them a bit pricey and most are British, French and Spanish {only two American Ships available}. Overall, I am really liking this game!

Accessible rules, beautiful components.

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I bought at a reduced price so I got a real value for my money. The rules are not too complicated compared to other sailing games. The components are fantastic and the game has a real visual appeal.

Broadsides and Boarding parties

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

A great little game for sea battles, the starter box has enough to keep you entertained for quite a while. Uses a variation on the Wings of War/X-Wing/Armada rule sets so you can be playing a simple game very quickly. The real fun is in the advanced game, but there is a lot of moving parts to keep track of, so you probably won't be using very many ships at that level of detail (probably 4 per side is about the max).

Fun for small Napoleonic naval battles

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

The game has a good mix of realism and simple quick play rules with several levels for beginners and advanced players. There's a good number of ships to choose from to expand the starter set. Note that you probably don't want to control more than a few ships per player.
