Race those dice
Formula D is a great entry game for new board game players who enjoy racing. The rules for the basic race (18 wear points and 1 lap) are laid out and get players going quickly. You soon learn that there are a lot of strategies to know when to up/down shift, when to take wear points for breaking or doing a hard downshift, and how to position yourself for a turn. The advanced rules give even more options and race modes. Highly recommend this game.

Love it
This has become the new favorite game in the house! Love that the board is double sided for more playing. The instructions weren't terrible to learn either. Every time we get to 6th gear it's right as we need to get to 1st or 2nd gear and that downshifting makes the game challenging. I recommend this game to everyone!

The best translation from Driving to board game
This is an interesting game. When a friend brought it over to play, I was unsure, as driving/racing games in the past seemed really clunky or odd. I like the gear shift mechanic of the game, and the fact that if you want to push it, you can, but, you might have a penalty (most likely you will). It is a great game and I look forward to playing some expansions.

Exciting game
My wife's family are all nascar fans so I bought this game when we were dating because I thought they'd enjoy it. Turns out I was right! This game is pretty popular with anyone I play with though. My side of the family also enjoys and our friends too. I think it's our most requested game on game nights. At the regular price it is a bit steep but the game has a lot of cool details that still make it worth the price.

Great racing simulation with AMAZING components!
Formula D has some of THE BEST components out of any board game in my collection (which is over 260 games large). The board is beautiful (although it does not always want to lay flat) and colorful. The cars are nicely done and each colored uniquely. The dice are great. But the best part is the player's "dashboard" where you shift gears and keep track of damage. As far as gameplay goes, you start the race in first gear and can switch up or down as you go. The higher the gear you are in, the larger the die you get to roll (for instance, you only roll a 4 sided die in first gear, but as you go up to fifth you can move as much as 30 spaces!). There are a few rules in place to keep you in check so you don't just max out: You can only go up one gear each turn You can only go down one gear per turn (if you are forced to gear more than one you damage the car) You MUST gear down and end your turn in the turns/corners (the sharper the corner, the slower you must take it) You also can hit people and take body damage, wear out your brakes, wear down your tires and spin out, etc. There are pegs to keep track of your car's "health" stats in various categories. What I love about this game is the fact that the mechanics make sense with the theme. Bumping opponents and taking damage makes sense. Having to change gears makes sense. Braking hard, drafting, slowing for corners, etc. JUST MAKES SENSE! It is very thematic. I also like that it plays well with up to 10 people and it also is fairly easy to teach and play with people ages 8 and up. A great family game. A MUST OWN!
