Formula D also means the suspense of illegal racing on the streets of the big cities. Anything goes: customized cars, nitro fuel injection, skidding in roundabouts, unfair tricks. The game principles always stay the same, but different cars, rules and circuits come into play. This new edition of Formula D contains material which has not yet been published, including painted cars, dashboards, driver profiles, circuits and simple playing instructions are enclosed, allowing you to start play immediately. The best translation from Driving to board game
This is an interesting game. When a friend brought it over to play, I was unsure, as driving/racing games in the past seemed really clunky or odd. I like the gear shift mechanic of the game, and the fact that if you want to push it, you can, but, you might have a penalty (most likely you will). It is a great game and I look forward to playing some expansions.

Exciting game
My wife's family are all nascar fans so I bought this game when we were dating because I thought they'd enjoy it. Turns out I was right! This game is pretty popular with anyone I play with though. My side of the family also enjoys and our friends too. I think it's our most requested game on game nights. At the regular price it is a bit steep but the game has a lot of cool details that still make it worth the price.

Great racing simulation with AMAZING components!
Formula D has some of THE BEST components out of any board game in my collection (which is over 260 games large). The board is beautiful (although it does not always want to lay flat) and colorful. The cars are nicely done and each colored uniquely. The dice are great. But the best part is the player's "dashboard" where you shift gears and keep track of damage.

As far as gameplay goes, you start the race in first gear and can switch up or down as you go. The higher the gear you are in, the larger the die you get to roll (for instance, you only roll a 4 sided die in first gear, but as you go up to fifth you can move as much as 30 spaces!). There are a few rules in place to keep you in check so you don't just max out:
You can only go up one gear each turn
You can only go down one gear per turn (if you are forced to gear more than one you damage the car)
You MUST gear down and end your turn in the turns/corners (the sharper the corner, the slower you must take it)

You also can hit people and take body damage, wear out your brakes, wear down your tires and spin out, etc. There are pegs to keep track of your car's "health" stats in various categories.

What I love about this game is the fact that the mechanics make sense with the theme. Bumping opponents and taking damage makes sense. Having to change gears makes sense. Braking hard, drafting, slowing for corners, etc. JUST MAKES SENSE! It is very thematic.

I also like that it plays well with up to 10 people and it also is fairly easy to teach and play with people ages 8 and up. A great family game. A MUST OWN!

Best Racing Experience
Easily one of the best racing games I have ever played. The game comes with a double sided board (wish more games did this) adding variety to the racing options. The game is a very press your luck with probability control to reference to speed. Knowing when to hit the gas or slam the breaks is crucial in successful race. Just because your slow and steady does not mean you out, bide your time and give it your all. GREAT game

Great Game
Whether you play the basic game or the advanced version Formula D is a lot of fun, and it gets more chalenging the more people you add. You can set the game up to play a short or long game, with additional maps you could even run your own Formula Series.

Formula One road racing
I'm a casual race fan at best, but Formula One has always been intriguing to me. So, when my sons wanted to try out Formula D, I decided to give it a go.

The game components are nice, for the most part. There's a full set of custom dice, one representing each gear in the race car. The individual player boards representing the car's gear shifting, tires and damage is really well thought-out and made of thick, durable cardboard. The plastic cars are very small and a bit simple, but they have to be small to fit on the track. Making the track fit larger cars would cause some compromises in the track - either making the board unreasonably large, or reducing the number of spaces on the track. This would significantly impact the game, and I'd rather keep the small cars.

The game does a pretty good job of simulating a race, forcing players to make some decisions that are often very difficult. The amount of strategy is higher than I was expecting. You have to decide whether pushing your luck heading into a turn is worth the possible damage you're risking to your tires and vehicle.

This game has a pretty large footprint, so you'll want to make sure you have plenty of space. The race track spans two boards, and each driver needs space for the smaller individual setup - plus space to roll the dice.

We really enjoy Formula D. We have a great time joking around with each other when one of us takes a turn too fast and ends up off the track, or when someone is overly cautious and falls way behind. The fun family time is at least half the enjoyment of the game.
