I'm on the fence about this expansion. I like the moats and the fact that there are new, additional rooms to add to the game. The swans and secret passages, however, seem like an over-complication. Half the time, you forget about the secret passage ways. Additionally, you spend so much time thinking about the secret passages, how to fit your castle into your moat, and worrying about gathering up different-colored swans. The base game already gave you plenty to think about; the expansion gives you too much to think about. Building a moat definitely makes the game more challenging in that you have to condense your castle rather than allowing it to sprawl out, and that's a good added challenge. Also, the base game already took a lot of set up and tear down time. When you add the expansion, these times only grow more, as you have to add in rooms from the base game and the expansion. The price point is good, but most of the time, I end up just playing the base game because it gives plenty to think about (but not too much), and takes less time to set up and tear down. As far as the Secrets expansion, take it or leave it.
