Iberian Gauge Review
Iberian Gauge @ 34:23

The morning stretches over the tops of the tall, rugged mountains that dominate the Iberian Peninsula. Hammers ring, iron on iron, fighting stubbornly for every inch of new track against the unforgiving and unyielding terrain. The age of the railroad is coming to Iberia, but it won't be easy...

In Iberian Gauge, you will invest in railroad companies during Stock Rounds. In the Operating Rounds, each share of stock allows the shareholder to build track for that company, in the order those shares were purchased. But building in such hostile terrain is expensive! Leasing track from other companies reduces cost and keeps your railroads expanding. Failure to expand will sink your stock values, leading to ruin!

Fast & Fun

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Quirky little cube rails game with lots of charm, quick play, and excellent interplayer dynamics.

Exactly what I wanted

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I was looking for a cube rail game that didn't have auctions. This game delivers that. Don't let the slow start fool you, this game speeds up and goes quick after rails find each other and start leasing track. Time is probably a little longer than the box says at first. I think a couple more plays might get it down to the hour, but we've been doing 1:30-2:00. Lots of cool decisions.

Great Intro Railway Game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Iberian Gauge is a BEAUTIFUL production. The train cars are smaller than expected, but it allows to the game to have a smaller footprint. The game is also quite interactive and creates a lot of conversation as there are multiple shareholders for each trainline; each share holder choosing where the railroad gets built. The game also only takes about 60-90 minutes to play and this was with the max player count of five (all new players). Definitely recommend this game (especially because of the low price point).

Iberian Gauge: Familiar feeling, interesting twist

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Iberian Gauge is a great game of shared incentives and track leasing. The game phases will be familiar for anyone that has played an 18xx game, but the complexity and game length are not at all like 18xx. We banged out this game in under an hour and everyone was left talking about how it all played out and potential strategies and mistakes. If the game leaves the whole group engaged afterward, that's a good sign.
