Terra Mystica is a strategy game with a simple game principle and very little luck involved. You govern one of 14 factions trying to transform the landscape on the game board in your favor in order to build your structures. On the one hand, proximity to other players limits your options for further expansion, but on the other hand, it provides some benefits during the game. This conflict is the source of Terra Mystica's appeal.

Structures may be upgraded to provide even more resources, like workers, priests, money, and power. Build temples to gain more influence in the four cults of fire, water, earth, and air. Build your stronghold to activate your faction's special ability. Expand and build new dwellings to have many workers at hand. Or make sure to have a constant flow of money to by building trading houses.

The 14 artfully designed factions, each having unique special abilities, as well as the exchangeable bonus cards allow for a large number of possible game plays that constantly keep this game entertaining!

Very fun, but unforgiving

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This was a very fun game. It gives you a wide variety of directions to go with your development. It is pretty complicated, however, and it's unforgiving to bad decisions. Not for the casual gamer

Amazing no luck strategy game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I love this game. It feels like Terraforming Mars or Settlers of Catan, but the deep strategy, and the complete lack of luck based mechanics is great. The mechanics and strategies can cause some analysis paralysis, but not any worse than TM or SoC, in my experience.

Great Depth/Speed

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

We love this game, it gives you plenty of depth but the games don't take hours. With 2 players we average right at an hour each game but it feels like we got the depth of some of the games that take us almost two hours. Makes it fun and easy to reset and try something else, and encourages you to make decisions and not worry about min/maxing because if you mess up you didn't lose two hours of work!
