Pavlov's House was a fortified apartment building used as a strongpoint by the Soviet 62nd Army during the pivotal Battle of Stalingrad in WW2. Soviet defenders held out for almost two months from a constant German assault. The building's name was drawn from Yakov Pavlov, a sergeant who led the initial storm group assault that resulted in the capture of the building from the Germans. The story of Pavlov's House was a key piece of Soviet propaganda and was used as a symbol of the incredible resistance of Soviet forces during the Battle of Stalingrad.

In Pavlov's House, you take control of the valiant defenders of the strongpoint. You also control the key leaders throughout the Soviet 62nd Army that made the defense of Pavlov's House possible.

Solitaire: You take control of the defenders of Pavlov's House. You also control the key leaders of the Soviet 62nd Army.

Cooperative: One player controls the defenders of Pavlov's House, while the other player controls the Soviet 62nd Army.

Competitive: One player controls the German attackers, while one or two players control the Soviet forces.

Elite Solo War Game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This is easily my favorite solo wargame at the moment. I love the integration of operational and tactical levels. Highly recommended!

I have been playing boardgames for over fifty years. This is the funnest solo game I have ever played. Lots of tough decisions to make every turn but a simple and very playable game.

Great solo game. Don't know how it would work out with multiple players. There is also an electronic version on steam that I found really helpful to help learning before utilizing the board game.

Probably the best of the series

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I haven't played Lanzerath Ridge yet, but I think Pavlov's house is the best of the Valiant Defenders series. You not only play as the defenders in the house, but also command the Soviet support efforts. The Nazis also aren't just trying to break into the house, but are also bombarding the area to disrupt your communications, supply lines, and artillery support. Castle Itter is simpler, and a better starting point as a result. Soldiers in Postmen's Uniforms is more complex and realistic, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but might be too much for less experienced players. In addition, it supports up to 3 players in 2-player cooperative and 2-3 player competitive play, though it is primarily meant to be played solitaire.

Have not had a chance to get the game on the table and play, but I inspected all the parts and the quality of the item is excellently made.

Had another game on the table when Pavlov arrived so just unboxed the other day. So far played two games and enjoying it immensely. I have Castle Itter also from about a year ago so understand a lot of the mechanics. Pavlov is fab as it has the 3 dimensions to deal with. You are always left feeling that you never have quite enough, cards, actions or counters, and you have to think and plan for what might be coming next. Lost heavily in game one as I got bombed out seriously quite early on. The second game, I got to the end with a total of -1, it felt like a great victory, and I could see the mistakes I made and the bad luck I got on Volga crossing cards. Can't wait for game 3!!

Exciting, action packed, solo experience!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This is my first venture into war gaming and it's been a blast. All the dice rolling and easy to follow procedural rules and clear iconography - what's not to love about this game? Great production quality and components. (wish it came with an insert though) Love the fact that you get 3 levels of strategy, with the operational, support and unit movements. Great solo game!
