Legend of the 5E Rings
This is a fantastic supplement that brings the world of L5R into fifth edition. While there have been some changes here and there, overall the book is fantastic and well worth picking up for the character options alone.

Not your Ancestor's Rokugan
Interesting new mechanics for 5th Ed. Each class has a resource to power special abilities.Oddly Ritualist, the main caster class, gets prof+1 base Favor needed to start or upkeep their Invocations, recharge 4 hours at a shrine or long rest, meaning they're mostly stuck using 0 cost spells. Shinobi can use katanas but not wakizashi (shortsword or ninja-to). Most backgrounds give wakizashi prof. Written by Edge instead of AEG... we get a how to play that includes Don't try to explain someone else's culture to them, BTW, we ban ritual suicide, don't call the Fortunes by name, reduce Ancestors to a single general feat in favor of the cycle of Reincarnation (adding PC races Mazoku and their prey Spectres). Nonhumans are now uncommon but welcomed (erasing prejudice against Nezumi), as are foreigners (multiple backgrounds that all speak, write, and sign in Rokugani, and list a Real World country basis). Foreign trade has been retconned to not been banned for centuries. Timeline ends just before the Clan War (adventure hook, your PC's are the second thunders) tl;dr: it's an interesting book and I did buy it again, but fans of the original L5R/Rokugan may want to ignore the heavily changed background settings. Such as Chikusho-do, the realm of animals who want to reincarnate as humans and Sakkaku realm of animals who don't.

More combat oriented than the original
There is a much greater focus on adventure and combat in the 5e version. While the Fantasy Flight version was more about political intrigue.

L5R for 5e
I think that Edge studio has carried on the work FFG did by making this a visually appealing book of high quality. I’m not sure if I would run this setting “as isâ€Â, but the options presented in the book would be fairly easy to incorporate into another 5e setting with minor tweaks. A great pick for anyone looking for more options in their 5e game!
