It is the Age of Discovery and Portugal's largest cities are prospering: Lisbon, Porto, and especially Coimbra with its famous university. As the head of one of Coimbra's most wealthy houses, you seek to earn prestige during this prosperous era. In an effort to garner the best reputation, you must clinch favors form the city's most influential citizens - clerics, scholars, council members, and merchants - with a bit of coin or a little extra protective detail.
While there are many paths to victory, the best of players will always seek to optimize their opportunities with every roll of the dice. Coimbra introduces a unique dice mechanism wherein the dice that players draft will be utilized multiple times every round in various aspects of decision making. Combined with ever-changing synergies between available tiles and cards, no game of Coimbra will ever be the same!

Dice will command you
Great game where you roll dice and then share resources with them. I'll play this again for sure. Has very little take that, but worth noting as some dont like that at all.

Great Game
Beautiful game with fun mechanics. It took a couple of playthroughs to get really invested but once we understood the rules it was a blast. Great overall game!

Such a great medium weight game
Wife and I love this game. Has mechanics we like and once the iconography is learned actually plays very quickly. Art is nice and materials are good. Cards a little thin but nothing sleeping doesn’t help.

Fascinating take on dice placement
In Coimbra, you place dice to pursue your win condition. Often times dice games are a turn off because of dice variance, but Coimbra balances that nicely by having high dice rolls pick first on some tracks, but low on others. So it really comes down to how well you manage what you've rolled. There's also three different victory point paths you can pursue giving the game tons of variability. High replay value. This is a middle-weight game, so if you prefer lighter games this may not be for you.

Fun game with interesting dice action mechanism. Many interesting decisions and paths to take. You can have a different focus for several different plays. Beautiful too.

Pick a card, go up in the track, check combos and score points.
Medium-low weight euro, with easy to learn rules, where you will be trying to acquire cards every turn using the rolled dices for the round, each card will let you go up in one of the four different tracks, you will check your position on the track and receive the bonus of that level, give support for a voyage (end game bonuses) and after four rounds the one with most points is the winner. Would recommend it if you want something not that complicated with lots of combos for cards. also great at 2 players.

Great game and simple gameplay
A great game with pretty simple gameplay. The player boards do a great job of walking through all of the actions. The iconography is pretty simple and easy to grasp once you start playing. The game gives the player lots of decisions and paths to victory. Have really enjoyed all of my game plays and one I'm always looking to get to the table.

Beautiful game full of great decisions
I'm loving Coimbra, very charming art and lots of great decisions to be made with the dice, cards, and map. I have only played 2-player so far and I think it works great, there wasn't a lot of fighting over cards/map routes but I imagine with 3 and especially 4 there would be more 'fighting' over spaces. If you like dice drafting, tableau building, and action combos I would give this a try!
