Genesys RPG: Core Rulebook

If you haven't looked into Genesys, it's a system you can use to run just about any kind of setting. The book comes with tips to run a handful by default. Its funky, proprietary dice are the main thing that tend to keep people away, which I can understand. They're really cool though if you actually take the time to learn how they work. Simple rolls become very dynamic for the narrative because of the different symbols you can roll. For my own experience, I played in the game of a friend that was in the setting of Mass Effect. It was an absolute blast. This hardcover is good quality. The paper feels a bit cheaper than I'm used to, but it's not terrible. I'd pick it up if you're interested in running anything from Shadowrun to weird west.

A phenomenal book for an outstanding role playing system! An evolution of FFG's Star Wars RPG, Genesys builds on the foundation of highly narrative storytelling and applies it to any setting you can imagine. High and low fantasy? Absolutely. Modern day? Why not. Don't forget the many varieties of science fiction. Not only is Genesys such a great role playing system, the Core Rulebook is written in a beautiful, easy to read manner and provides important information at a glance. While this book doesn't provide a large quantity of way of stat blocks, the reader is given a huge variety of things to draw inspiration from. Also included are detailed mechanics for creating your own setting-appropriate species, careers, talents, adversaries, skills... etc. If you're looking for a new RPG to dive into, I very highly suggest Genesys.
