Caesar's Empire is a 2-5 player eurogame about building roads, set in the world of the beloved comic series Asterix. However, instead of playing as one of the indomitable Gauls, players will be siding with the great Julius Caesar! As members of the emperor's entourage, they have been tasked with expanding the limits of his empire.
In Caesar's Empire, players build Roads to connect Rome to new Cities across the player board. Each time a player reaches a new City, they score points, and Cities provide City and Treasure tokens that will be worth additional points at the end of the game. The game ends when Rome is connected to every City on the board. After adding the value of the City and Treasure tokens they collected to the points scored during the game, the player with the most points wins!

Too much for a filler
The game is well-produced and, admittedly, entertaining, but for an affair that lasts MAYBE half an hour, and likely less, it's too much--too large a box, overproduced pieces, and just a smidge too much setup.

Simple with interesting choices to make
We really liked the game for what it is - a gateway-level game on par with Ticket to Ride. Nearly everything will earn you points, either immediately or at game end. It plays fast, the player boards are well designed, and the components are nice. A game you can play with gamers and nongamers, alike.
