A perect entry warband to Kings Of War Vanguard
The Forces of the Abyss warband is a perfect entry for those looking to play demons in Kings of War : Vanguard. The box comes packed with 15 detailed plastic miniatures from The Forces of The Abyss faction. While you can add other models from the faction to a warband, this selection offers a real good options to field as a starting force. The models are multi part models, and for those of you unaware (much like myself) they DO NOT come with instructions on how to build them. This of course seems odd at first , but once you start assembling your minis , you will find that it won't hamper your building progress. I will say just do some picture research (google/yahoo ect ect) on the models for reference on how they should look assembled, and that should give you a pretty good guide. The minis themselves are pretty detailed, from the grunt units all the way up to the command unit the models have some nice definition to them. While most of the bases found within the box are plastic, the cavalry models have a wooden (yes wooden ) base. This is the one part I found to be a little off putting. However, I still have some old plastic WHFB cavalry bases around that I will switch out (this is just personal preference). The box also includes the vanguard start cards for all of the models in Forces of The Abyss faction. These cards will give you exactly how every model(s) works/plays in the game. Though this being an older boxset you may just want to make sure that the (stats/points and so forth) cards are up to date via Mantic's website ( Don't worry, it's a free PDF). Using Mantic's free rule set (again found on Mantic's website) you could build this set up, and play right out of box (a huge selling point for me personally) but it also is great foundation for those with the full rule set.
