Difficult but fun game. The end turn marker adds a bit of strategy to the game in regards to what side missions you should try to do.

This is what some have called an RPG in a Box. And that is what it is. There are a variety of characters to play, the campaign book has interesting little scenarios to play with great story to go along with it, the mechanics are simple enough for younger children to be able to grasp, and it is a lot of fun to play. It seems a little pricey, but the components are will done and there is quite a bit of game play to be had. Once you've made it thru the campaign, there really isn't much in the way of replay value, but there are expansions (haven't tried yet) and it is a very good experience for all gamer types. Highly recommended.

Another great game to get the girlfriend hooked!
Yes, it does have a cute-factor that might scare off hardcore gamers, but don't let it stop you. It is a really fun dungeon crawler. It is not complex which is great for newer players. Significant others, kids, friends that give hesitant looks when you ask if they want to play a game: perfect candidates.
Equally awesome is that it can be played solo! The solo game is so much fun and nothing is lost without more players. Sometimes it can even be boon because this game is by no means easy. Time, in a sense, is ticking and the game mechanics create a really good air of emergency without it feeling stressful.

Growing up, I loved playing RPGs. Once I started having kids, I knew that I would have an RPG group built right into my family. I've been trying to find ways to introduce my kids into RPGs and to get them to use their imagination when it comes to games. My family are board game fanatics so mixing a board game into an RPG was perfect for me any my family. Mice and Mystics does a really good job as an introductory into RPGs. The story helps transform my kids into the characters they are. My oldest has to be Colin the leader and he really helps lead the group. It's a fun RPG but it does take quite a bit to get setup and for my younger kids (9, 6, & 4...my 4 year old is on my team), it takes a couple of gaming sessions to get through a Chapter. Overall, it's a fun family RPG that can require a lot of communication to get through a Chapter.

This game has incredible atmosphere, with a full story book to walk you through (each scenario is called a "chapter"). Basically you are (former-human) mice exploring a castle and battling rats, spiders, centipedes, etc, even the castle cat Brodie.
Each chapter is a rescue mission or spy mission, etc with story points along the way that you read. Each mouse has different equipment and abilities and each room has different rooms that have different rules making it seem very thematic.
If you're not a good rule reader you can check out the publisher's web site for an instructional video. This is a great game for a group of friends or even for kids if an adult helps them along.

At first this game looks a big daunting, big box, price tag, cheesy backstory (literally) etc. But once you delve into it you will find that it has re-playability, the miniatures are of pretty high quality, the cardboard/plastic components hold up well, and enjoyable for both casual gamers and those who have a closet full of games.

I'm a huge fan of cooperative boardgames, and invested in Mice and Mystics for this exact reason. The game supports 1-4 players, each playing a different character against a mission and enemies that are either predetermined by the rules, or pulled from a random enemy encounter deck. The game takes players through an adventure, each mission adding to the story. As the game progresses, characters level, acquiring new abilities and equipment, and even unlocking new characters.
I find the game is fun, but the rule book was difficult to decipher. My play group took to the internet to watch the official video guide, and also found that to be of little help. In the end, we had to find an amateur video that explained the rules to figure out how to actually play. Once we got the basics down, the game was very enjoyable. I did dock a point from "Gameplay" because the rules were tricky to figure out, and even after doing so, some of the mechanics feel a little "clunky" at times.
All in all, the game has a lot of cool things to unlock, provides a lot of fun, and has a lot of replay-ability. There are also quite a few expansions after the initial core set to expand play further. I recommend this game to anyone who likes tactical games or the dungeon crawl aspect of Dungeons and Dragons.

The title of this summary I blatantly stole from Wil Wheaton's TableTop YouTube show, which is what inspired me to take the plunge and pick it up for my family.
Let me say that this game is very cool. The theme is wonderful and the game play is pretty good. A great coop game for all ages. The price seems a little high, but the game has enough content to get your money's worth out of it. I definitely recommend you add it to your collection.

A wonderful storyline and nice looking minis make this game a must have for gaming families. The game play is solid and the characters well thought out. Each player has their role to play in achieving success so nobody feels like a spare part. The continuing storyline has us coming back time and again. We play one chapter per session and always seem to be talking about the upcoming game night in anticipation. I can't recommend this game enough .

This game is dripping with wonderful theme and story. There is no better coop for families, not to mention the story is very well done. The only downer is the exhausting setup and having to learn special new thematic rules almost every chapter of play. The game is great, but the rules can be very fiddly. But, overall I and my family have loved it.
