Ultimately this piece didn't require painting, the green translucent material used to make the piece was perfect to imitate Ghastly remains. ultimately there isn't too much detail, and given the price is similar to other more detailed pieces I can only devise that the material used to make the piece must be cost effective to the price. Overall it was a good buy, I will be purchasing a few more like this to complete my ghastly set.
