This is a bit better than the card game since you start out with a few abilities & usually 1 extra color die. The color dice have an advantage to the white dice in so much as they often have a symbol(s) on more than one side. Plus the color dice have a wild side and the white starter dice do not.
My only issue with the game is occasionally one player gets 2 or more abilities that work so well together that it turns into a point juggernaut, and no one can catch them. Still it is a fun game, and if you like Race for the Galaxy, check out the game reviews/playthroughs on youtube. You'll probably really like this game!
