If you want a light game to play with the kids, grandma, or your casual friends then look elsewhere. This game is easy to teach and highly portable, but it wants you to be very clever. It will give you tough decisions, but they are all fun. This is a game where your opponents actions matter, but its more about being awesome than nasty. How many combos can you string together? How much synergy can you find in your bonus scoring?
Every card is unique, so you will constantly find new interactions.
The artwork is from the incredible Storm Hollow source material, so it looks gorgeous.
The novel spacial puzzle in the middle of the board enables interesting and repayable game play.
You can choose to cycle your hand every turn, so you can usually get what you need.
I like it all player counts. 2 is very tight. 3 is my favorite with a balance of tightness and player interactions. 4 is more chaotic, but also more interesting.
Riftwalker is not for everyone, but if you like to get toys and play with them it might be your new favorite game.
