Explorers of the North Sea is set in the latter years of the Viking Age. As ambitious sea captains, players seek out new lands to settle and control. Solid early Garphill game
I'd played Explorers of the North Sea only once a few years ago and had been wanting to get back to it ever since. I've gone deeper into the Garphill games catalog in the meantime and knew that this one wouldn't have quite the layers of thinkiness and interaction, although it does stand apart due to the tile-laying. I find the game straightforward, enjoyable, and thematic. I've been running through it solo which is a good way to learn how to score well for the captains, and is a low-key enough game that I can even do it while watching a show. I do want to grab the expansion(s) at some point to liven things up. But I'm glad to have this on the shelf.

I played this at a game con. Really enjoyed it- so much I had to own it! Can’t wait to get to table.

A Light, Fun Exploration Game!
if You love Carcassonne or even just that feeling of putting together a puzzle for the first time, then you will enjoy this game. There’s a lot of opportunities to score points with just a few simple options each turn. There are wooden boats, animals, and Vikings that will explore and be discovered along the way. Every game is a different experience of putting the map together and exploring. Great game!

Amazing
One of the best games I’ve ever played. Each game is so different from the last. Every time you play the map is completely different. The art work on the box, cards and tils have amazing detail and color.
