Lawyer Up is an asymmetrical two-player courtroom drama card game where one player is the noble prosecution and the other the steadfast defense. Each game begins with Discovery, where players draft vital evidence to support their case and bury evidence that might help their opponent. Next comes the Trial, where players call witnesses and play powerful arguments along with the evidence they drafted into their examinations. To form a coherent line of questioning, players will need to chain together their cards by matching bias symbols.

The player who can best examine the Witness will spend Influence to sway the Jury to their side. Every game is different, but the lawyer with the best case and most convincing arguments will be sure to get the verdict they are after!

Amazingly Thematic

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

When it comes to the legal theme these cards really let you lean into the courtroom drama. Skeptic jury members with their own bias, cross examination tug of war with evidence and arguments, surprise witnesses that take the rug out from the opposition. It is a bit to teach before you first dive in but once your there you'll be throwing objections and having sidebars in know time. Finally the game has so much replayability that even after a few plays I have only scratched the surface of the depth and variable game states you find yourself in. It is a bit lengthy for a 2 player duel but theme this good is always a treat in immersion

How will you sway the jury?

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

A great two player game where you get to walk in the shoes of either the Defence of Prosecution in a series of criminal court cases. The great use of the theme mixed with a bit of roleplaying (if you are into it) really ramps up the immersion of game play! The Lawyer Up base game introduces two different cases with enough variation to ensure a decent amount of replayability, including: the option to play scenarios as short, medium or long games; the option to use various judges that will have their own biases (with a nice amount of diversity in terms of character representation); and various ways to set up the jury. All these variations will force you to alter your strategies to sway the jury in your favour, which I really enjoy. Finally, the components are well made, and I appreciate the iconography for each of the bias tokens/visuals — while they are each a different colour, the use of specific icons make this game more accessible. Really enjoyed this one. A nice addition to the collection.

Fun 2 player experience

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

This was a surprisingly fun experience I enjoyed taking out. So much so my one complaint is that it's only 2 player, although thematically it makes sense. Also love that the game can be made more or less as long or as short as desired. Rulebook could do with a little fine-tuning but otherwise would definitely recommend.

Good solid two player game, great back and forth and some settle TAKE THAT. Yet the take that does not seem mean or aggressive. The court room setting is great, Good solid two player game with a great theme and easy mechanics.
