Notre Dame Board Game
Notre Dame is a great light medium eurogame with great replayability consisting with lots of strategy. The game offers tense and interesting decisions that require to manage risk and manipulate a very tight economy at the same time constructing long range play for the point scoring objective. The 10 th anniversary includes all the expansions which give the game a new life into it, also great quality components. The game is an instant win with simple rules consisting with interaction with depth strategy during gameplay

This Stefan Feld title was certainly worth every penny I spent. Thanks, Miniature Market, for the $20 sale offer! OK, the theme is kinda pasted on; and, you may have plenty of worker placement games already on your shelf. But, this one is quick with a reasonable amount of tension and darn you in the game play. At least it was on its initial play, a two-player game. We both agreed that each of those two elements, particularly the darn you would be ramped up when the game hit the table for a full five-player game. And, we both agree it should. You just have to keep an eye on those rats and your plague level. The component quality is pretty low end; but, that's the game's only downside.

Not as intimidating as it looks
I'm more of a board gamer than my wife, so when she saw the board she was a little intimidating. However, after a few rounds we became familiar with the iconography and the game became much more accessible. It was a really fun thinky game that wasn't too complex. I was thrown off by the box including expansion cards for Castles of Burgundy. I don't own that game and found it a little odd.

A top notch classic
I loved Castles of Burgundy and wanted to give more Sefan Feld games a try. I'm glad I picked up this one. It's much lighter and faster and less brain burning than Castles and many of his other games while still being engaging and challenging. What appears to be a very simple set up and mechanisms quickly spins out of control as you struggle to balance getting victory points (in the usual Feld multiple paths to victory style) and staving off the black plague. A really great Euro that can be played in under an hour, even at five players. It was disappointing that the 10th Anniversary edition wasn't a new edition, just a re-release of the original. It still has the drab artwork and ultra thin cardboard of the original but at least it contains the mini-expansions and promo cards for Castles. Highly recommended.

Notre Dame 10th Anniversary: Production Quality Review
Recently I purchased Notre Dame: 10th Anniversary Edition. Agreeable from BGG rankings, Notre Dame by Stefan Feld is a wonderful game. The game play is interesting, easy to teach, player turns are quick, and the game doesn't outstay it's welcome at the table. All positives board game elements. However, the so-called 10th Anniversary Edition is nothing short of a complete and utter disappointment in production quality. As I own the Standard Edition, I wanted to upgrade my copy with the 10th Anniversary Edition as it includes the hard-to-find New Persons card expansion sets. Thus I was able to compare these 2 editions side-by-side. Here are my findings... Like the Original Edition, the 10th Anniversary Edition was made of the same cheap quality cardboard used to construct the box and game board components. The cardboard used is completely thin and flimsy, one could say a Corn Flakes Cereal Box is made of better quality. Given the 10th Anniversary Edition was produced/printed in 2017, the box and game board components should have been constructed of modern chipboard (ie. thicker and highly more durable). Moving on... The 1st Player Marker (or Bell-Ringer), is identical to the cheap cardboard standee included in the Original Edition. Given this was the 10th Anniversary Edition, the cardboard standee should have been replaced with a Metal Coin, or even a Miniature in the likeness of the Bell-Ringing. This too was another major disappointment. The Cards, Coins, and Prestige Tokens... The cards produced for the 10th Anniversary Edition are the same low-grade and low-quality cards as included in the Original Edition. Given the production standards of 2017, the cards should have been made of thicker stock and lien-backed for durability. As such, these poor quality cards will require sleeving. The Coins and Prestige Tokens are identical to those included in the Original Edition, which is to say the same cheap and thin cardboard. Whereas, the 10th Anniversary Edition could have included metal Coins, or at the very least Coins and Prestige Tokens printed on thicker chipboard for high-use and durability. Lastly, to end on one positive note. The wooden components included in the Original and 10th Anniversary Editions are same. But fear not, these wooden components are simply wonderful in quality. I find this to be the norm (and expected) from a Germany-based Game Publishers. So hats off to the Germany Publishers for knowing how to produce high quality wooden components that are properly (and evenly) painted. I hope you find this review helpful, as Notre Dame is a wonderful game. Sadly, the production quality of the 10th Anniversary Edition falls far below modern production standards.
