Shards of Infinity

Fantastic game. My favorite variable market deckbuilder. I highly recommend

A solid deckbuilder. I enjoy how fast the play is. The mercenary mechanic on certain cards (pay the card cost to use it on your turn and then put the card on the bottom of the deck) is cool. I also like how the shield cards prevent damage without having them removed from your hand, making it less of a burden to take defensive cards.

I picked up this game as an alternative to Star Realms/Hero Realms. Those games felt wildly unbalanced to me where one player gets their combo off and the other one slowly dies -- knowing all the while that they're going to lose. Shards feels explosive and quick while maintaining the tension to the end. Definitely staying in my collection. I predict that the coop expansion will make it so this game sees even more table time.

Fun deck builder with a couple twists. 1. The mercenary cards will let you use thier ability immediately when purchased instead of being put into your discard pile. Good strategy for late game or if you need a boost in the moment and want to keep your deck lean. 2. The leveling up system is a good way to increase your decks power without having to buy new cards. Some card's powers will increase when your level reaches a certain threshold. For example,, A card may give you 3 life, but at level 10-19 it gives you 5 and at level 20 or higher it gives you 8. Fans of deck builders (star realms, dominion, hero realms) should give this one a try.

Shards of Infinity has benefited from years of Ascension iteration, and it has launched with a compelling pool of cards and a few novel concepts that set it apart. If you like two-player dueling CCGs or quick-playing deck builders, you will love Shards of Infinity.

The art is excellent. The quick moving gameplay is addicting. This game is just as fun as other similar type games, and stands out on its own with its theme. Outstanding!
