Fun Filler

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Hardest part of this game is remembering pencils. The game is easy to learn and play but still gives opportunities for decision making. It’s what to play while waiting for your fourth or fifth player to show up. Best price is on MinMarket.

An Interesting Alternative

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

There are many incarnations of Lost Cities. I think the Board Game is still me favorite.

Simple and Fun

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

If you're looking for the same tense gameplay and agonizing choices of Lost Cities, look elsewhere. But this cute, quick game gives a different kind of tension. Everyone we played it with loved it and wanted to play again. It looks more complicated than it is. I taught it in about five minutes after reading the rules, and after the first turn, we all knew what we were doing. It's a good game that uses its source material in a different and interesting way.

A hit not a miss

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

Roll and writes, to me, have been hit or miss. I bought this game based solely on the backs of Knizia and Lost Cities. My wife and I love Lost Cities and I have yet to play a stinker by Knizia. This game does not break that streak, and only adds to Lost Cities catalogue. In the design you can feel the influence of both traditional Lost Cities along with the theft and take that elements of Lost Cities Rivals. While roll and writes are not my go to style of game, Lost Cities Roll and Write takes what is already a simple yet sharp card game and transposes the feeling of the cards and tableau directly to the dice and paper. I would recommend this to anyone who is familiar with roll and writes and anyone who is a fan of Lost Cities. It’s not quite as simple as something like Railroad ink. However, the slightly more in-depth choices adds the sharpness and is what makes this game a not quite standard roll and write allowing it stand above others.
