Targi Rules School

A Targi is a male member of the Tuareg people, who live in the Sahara Desert. As tribe leaders, you are in competition to build the most prosperous tribe. To do this, you must trade goods from near (such as dates and salt) and far (such as pepper) in order to earn gold and advantages, to ultimately expand your tribes.

In the game, the desert is a five-by-five grid of cards. You place your Targi figures on the cards that border the desert, and carry out the actions of those cards as well as the cards of the desert crossroads between them. If you don't go to the trader, you won't be able to trade - or even worse, your opponent will. Or maybe a caravan will bring the goods you desire.

The desert is a dangerous place, with robbers and rival tribes all vying for the same resources. There are many choices to consider, and the shifting desert sands bring a different set of choices each round. You can win only if you plan shrewdly and always keep some gold in your pocket.

Great game

Targi is an elegant two player experience. Very clever game design. It's a great take on the worker experience mechanism. I own it and have purchased it as a gift as well.

Great 2-player Game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Targi is a light game but has great replayability with the variety of cards providing choices. It has quickly become one of our favorite 2-player games. We will be getting the expansion also.

One of best 2 players board game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

It is a work placement game for 2 players. I like that the box is small enough to carry with me. It is one of my favorite games for 2 players (with jaipur and fungi)

The good reviews were accurate!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

This game is so easy to understand and enjoy. A head-to-head light thinker. If you're interested in it, do not be intimidated by other reviews of it, because it's a fun experience from set up to scoring. I'm looking forward to reviewing the expansion!

Good two player game

Average rating of 4 out of 5 stars

As a new empty nester, I have been looking more intently at 2 players' games. Targi is a good game. It is like Istanbul but with quicker gameplay. I gave it a 4 out of 5 only because Jaipur and Splendor are slightly better trading games. This game will come to the table for sure, but simply not as often as the other options. If you are looking for more complex two-player games. Caverna, Polis and 7 Wonders Duel are great ...

Targi one of the best 2-player games ever!

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

I don't know how many times I've played this and I'm still not tired of it. Everyone I play it with likes it a lot, from non games to serious gamers. If I continue to play a lot more I might get the expansion, but that's definitely not necessary.

Great Game

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Great worker placement game! Setup and tear down are quick because the game consists of a few decks of cards. Gameplay is simple but keeps you thinking. This game is going into our rotation!

Solid 2-player fun

Average rating of 5 out of 5 stars

Targi is a very clever design that incorporates resource management, worker placement, and (is to a lesser degree) engine building, all in a compact but satisfying two-player game. The game length takes longer than most games I play with my partner, probably 1 to 1.5 hours. But the decisions are satisfying and I do hope to play a number of times over many years.
