3000 Scoundrels @ 1:18:15

In 3000 Scoundrels, players assume the roles of rival leaders attempting to steal precious technology left behind by the Traveler. By overlaying clear cards, you create unique scoundrels and use them to outsmart your foes. In short, hire scoundrels to build powerful combos, steal technology, and outsmart your foes.

Each turn, you play a poker card from your hand face down in front of your player board, then use all abilities matching your claimed number. You don't need to tell the truth when claiming a number, but if an opponent catches you bluffing, it will damage your reputation and decrease your odds of winning the game.

Each leader has a unique perspective and motivation in the conflict of Graystone Gulch. Are you driven by money, fame, or the deep-seated desire to improve the world? Advanced rules add unique strategies to each leader that reflect their unique strengths and cunning tricks.

Neat Idea, Okay Execution

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

The gimmick of the game is neat but the overall gameplay itself is just alright.

Unfortunately Meh

Average rating of 3 out of 5 stars

This is just an OK game, which is kind of annoying because the premise and the theme is something we were really drawn to when we bought it. It just suffers from too much blah. The bluffing component is average, the game mechanics are average; there just isn't enough there there. the tech inside the safes is amusing, but really meaningless. The tech gives you nothing in the way of augmenting your character or scoundrels so it becomes reduced to just a number. That's boring and totally robs the theme of the game from having any punch. We will say that putting together the scoundrels and them having different abilities was cool. If there was one part of the game that was above average, even if slightly so, this was it. Some asymmetric player powers would have been nice, but unnecessary had the rest of the game been able to deliver. We wanted to like this game and we are hoping for an expansion that can make the overall experience shine. Until then, there is a good chance this game stays on the shelf.

The game is great. I love the idea of the multiuse cards. The bluffing aspect is great. The components are nice. I love the western poker theme. Played already around ten times with my brothers and we can't wait to get it to the table again.
