Great little game for anybody
This remains a staple of go-to quick games in my house. The element of randomness in the hero deck arrival and your room draws keeps one from gaming the game, but it can also be so random that if things don't go your way, there's no coming back. But it is a super fun game. If you're a fan of the 8-bit aesthetic and like a fast fun game. Highly recommend.

8-Bit Entertainment
Boss Monster is a fun little card game that pits you as the evil Dungeon Overlord as you build a dungeon to entice and entrap intrepid heroes. It is a unique twist on the deckbuilder genre and one of the first to capitalize on the 8-bit craze hitting the board game market. The game is very easy to teach and setup, but gameplay lasts maybe a little to long for what it really is, a simple game that offers fewer choices then you first realize. That is not to say it is not enjoyable per se, it is just not as deep as one would hope for in a 45 minute game.

8 bits nostalgia strikes back
if you are fan of the 8 bits boardgames, this game fits perfect

its a simple game where you build a dungeon and try to kill heroes before they kill you, with a NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) style brings a casual filler game for 8 bit fans.

its not as fast as you could expect and have a high language dependancy to be played since most of the information is hidden in the cards.

The Hand management could be harsh since you need to be on sucess to keep moving, the player left behind soon runs out of the race.

The most notorious its the Package were it comes! i woundt doubt on why this game kickstarter was soo Successfully accomplished.

Fun deckbuilder/drafting game for the old-school video game freaks
I've played better games than Boss Monster, but few that bring the nostalgia of NES and Sega Genesis gaming into tabletop and card games in such a clever way. The instructions don't give the best idea of how to play the game, so I suggest you watch a How-To-Play video online before you get started. Like many deckbuilding games, you don't have much chance of doing well within the first few rounds, but once the ball gets rolling, you can easily see who will come out on top.

You play the Boss Monster, not the hero, so your job is to build the deadliest dungeon possible so as to destroy the highest number of heroes you can. Spell cards can give you advantages or give your opponent disadvantages that can swing the game in your favor.

It's not perfect, but there are plenty of ways you can alter the published rules to give your game a little more variety. This game is much better the more people you add into the mix. You can also combine the sequel, Boss Monster 2 as an expansion and add more than 4 players if you like (or you can play Boss Monster 2 all by itself as a standalone game).

Nostalgia meets tower defense
Many of us fondly remember the years of 8 bit gaming. The timeless characters. The classic adventures. The difficult learning curves. Boss Monster brings the nostalgia for those long gone games home, but with a twist. Players take on the roles of the game's bosses. The object of the game is to entice heroes to enter your lair and kill them off before they reach you. Strategy and planning play major roles in this card game. Boss Monster combines the excitement of dungeon crawling with the challenge of tower defense. A must have for card and video game fans alike.

8 bits boardgame!
If you like old school video games you will like this game. The illustration is great , remember the 8-bit games. Another cool factor is being able to disrupt the other player dungeon with magic cards.

The expansion adds even more playability to the game! Great game!

Choose your Champion
Boss Monster has an excellent retro feel to it that any old time gamer would love. You work hard to build up your dungeon and attract stupid adventurers to go to it and be devoured by you, the Boss! Kill enough and you win, but the other Boss Monsters will do what they can to attract more to their dungeon and sabotage yours.

Very easy to play, well worth what I paid, and I'd recommend it for a quick pick up and play 'Retro' game.

Bang for your buck
If you have a small group of curious friends, you will lose yourself for hours in this small investment. The game plays fast and fun and once you decipher a few of the rules the over all game play is smooth. 9/10 Be the boss. Do not pass this one up.

Great quickie game!
More people = more fun. Rulebook could be a bit clearer and better laid out but once you get the flow of the game it really is fun and you can't beat the genre for it, love the throw back to the old games, look forward to more expansions. Worth every penny.

Neat
Definitely worth the $25 retail.

It has several flaws that you have to overlook. Just appreciate the retro throwback and build yourself a silly dungeon.

Fun thematic quick game. Easy to learn, and replayable with different bosses. Good 2 player but really shines with 3-4.
