Better than I thought
THis game is more fun than I thought it would be. I got it because of the appeal I thought it would have with my teenage and younger children. It is fun and engaging, short and sweet. We like it a lot!

SNES Zelda Map Designer
Love the theme, it has that Legend of Zelda over view map feel, game play is solid.

Like Cascadia but with more player interaction.
If you enjoy Cascadia but need a different theme or want more player interaction, Overboss could be for you. Have enjoyed it and adding the different modules to the game to change my own board or mess with other players can be fun.

If you liked SNES Zelda games…
This is a total eye-catcher, specially if you are a fan of 16-bit art. Playing this game gives you the feeling of discovering zones in the SNES/GBAdvance Zelda games. Would recommend specially if you like puzzles, from solo up to the max player count.

Fun Game!
Overboss is way better than Boss Monster. I like Boss Monster, but the games can sometimes feel horrible when nothing lines up right. Overboss is quick and simple, but comes with a lot of variety in the box. Speaking of the box, the box insert is a thing of beauty!

Overboss
I'm surprised how much fun we've had playing Overboss. My family has broken it out the past few nights just because it's such a blast to play. The rules are super easy to learn, about as easy as Kingdomino or Carcassonne with just a few extra rules. There is certainly a fair amount of randomness to the game. For instance, after shuffling the tiles, it is entirely possible that most of the tiles you pull are from only one or two terrain types. Still, this is part of the crazy fun of the game, which is figuring out how to score the most points when your strategy is going horribly wrong because that tile or token you so desperately want just won't show up. The only downside is that the drawstring bag used to hold the tokens seems to already be falling apart. I'm getting a higher-quality drawstring bag to replace it. I did not notice setup or take-down taking too long of a time. It takes less than five minutes during take-down to separate the tokens and tiles, which is a little less than the time it takes me to take-down Quacks of Quedlinburg. I could also see leaving a mix of tiles all together in a single bag so that setup and take-down are quicker if you find time is an issue. Overall, if you are okay with some random luck being a core part of the gameplay, then this is a super fun tile-laying game with beautiful pixel art and easy-to-learn rules that families and gamers are sure to enjoy as a filler between games or as a light game on the weekend.

If you love 8-bit art and tile lying, this is a good choice quick to learn and play, fun and familiar.

Great theme, lightweight drafting game
Boss monster is a simple tile drafting game that is easy to explain an plays quickly. I find it's lightweight lends it to playing with less strategic gamers as strategy is somewhat limited. Note that player interaction for the base game is limited to grabbing a tile pair before your opponent can. While competitive players may use this to frustrate their opponents, it's still fairly low key. Tile selection and placement does require some strategy but is also chance based as the tiles you need may never show up or not show up at the right time for you to be able to best your opponents in the tile grab. Overboss includes a solo mode which plays similar to the regular game (except you always get first pick) and provides an interesting challenge. It also includes some optional rules that allow more interaction between competitive players. I love the theme and to be honest, knowing it to be a simpler game, my purchase was largely influence by the theme. The short set-up and game play lend it to a great end of game night or waiting-on-pizza game in my library.
